Her performance was so lovely and pleasant to watch. I felt something like a healing power at the end. The announcer called her "New Miss Perfect." I agree with him :agree:

I also noticed that her program was different compared to GPF and how she improved it. Such a joy to watch, I really prefer this version! I hope she'll keep working on it and deliver this kind of performance at World.

^^ Wow, I didn't even notice she was nervous. Like I said, she gets nervous like everyone else but she knows how to focus and deliver.
 
I watched that skate and now I really wish she can skate like that again and win a world title for herself in the coming weeks. "Exquisite" is what comes to mind when I think of her and that hasn't applied for me since Sasha Cohen (both have very similar carriage, flexibility, and fantastic spins).
 
I am late for the party but congrets Satton, now take this momentum and bring it to Boston :cheer:

Just by scrolling through other threads I realize Satoko's scores have brought forward the ugly side of some people. Hoping for her to make mistakes in Boston because of jetlag and whatnot. So petty and childish. Support your favorite skaters without wishing ill on her. You can call her combos "fake 3-3" and "2A-3T abuse" all you want, it's your point of view. Just like in my point of view her two 2A-3T combinations aren't violating any rules. It's the best combo she's got at the moment so why not use it wisely. I'll tell you what I call abuse: spamming threads with 0.25 speed gifs or videos of her jumps. We get it, you're frustrated because she doesn't get underrotation calls on every single jump. I don't agree with her TES either but it was obvious it was going to happen ever since they gifted Medvedeva a total score of 220 at the Grand Prix Final. She is not almost 20 points better than the rest of the field. Take a few points out of Satoko's TES and add them to her PCS and you get the same result, more or less. Some people are so frustrated and taking it so personally it's mind boggling. If Satoko makes mistakes in Boston I'm already picturing some of these folks being genuinely happy about it. :disagree:

Eh, that's why I normally stay away from Ladies Event threads after they're done and just head over here to Satoko's fanfest to escape all the complaining :confused2:
For the longest time I remember Satoko getting straight 6's in PCS marks while getting slammed with multiple UR calls. It's interesting to see a lot of people wanting 'fair marks' yet none of them were making any comments when Satoko was getting grossly low PCS marks. And of course, her 'unfair jumps' weren't getting called out to this degree until Satoko started beating top-tier skaters with her amazing consistency.
I'm no expert at analyzing jumps or TES scores (I normally just like to watch skating in general to enjoy performances), but I don't see the point in excessive nit-picking. People have made their point already, and their frustrated etc. etc. Of course it's different opinions which is absolutely okay, but it's getting old, and I'm already used to ignoring it. :confused2:

Anyways, I'm so excited to watch Satoko in Boston! Fun story, I was watching The ICE in Japan this past summer where Satoko performed her FS for the first time (or one of the first times). She fell on her first 2 or 3 jumping passes and I was so worried that her consistency was starting to falter... But of course I was wrong, and we can never count Satoko out because look how far she's come! I love her Un Sospiro FS, even if I like her lighter pink dress better :laugh:

I actually saw her fall in the warmup before the SP here at 4CC and thought the same thing but when it was her turn to skate none of that happened. Reminds me of Yuna on this particular aspect (before people start calling blasphemy for comparing them :laugh:). Even if she seemed a bit off and frustrated in the warmup, she skated clean in the actual competition. In my opinion Japan has rarely had a lady with nerves of steel like Satoko.
 
Miyahara dominant in final tune-up before worlds

Skating to "Un Sospiro" by Franz Liszt, Miyahara reeled off seven triple jumps, including two double axel-triple toe combinations, and collected Level 4's for her spins and footwork. The 2015 world silver medalist posted a new personal best for the free skate with 142.43 points and finished the competition with a total of 214.91.

"In the first half of the season, I was happy with my performances, but I had a lot of second places. I was also twice a silver medalist at Four Continents, so coming into this competition, I was aiming to win," Miyahara said. "I'm pleased I met my goal, and it gives me a good feeling heading into worlds."

Satoko Miyahara / Yuzuru Hanyu pair after 2018, they'd do Japan a favor.

True but their styles are very different and I'd worry about their consistency. Satoko and Yuzuru have similar mindsets and it feels like they'd be able to pull off anything. If Yuzuru throws her properly, with Satoko's speed of rotation she'd probably land throw quintuples. :biggrin: She also seems very light. They're also very good spinners and they have good skating skills.
