Satoko Miyahara

The tech panel at SC was terrible. Absolutely terrible. Yes, being a little strict may sometimes be a good thing to get skaters to improve on their technical abilities. But this recent competition was a very good example of being strict in a harsh, unfair, and costly way. It was unfair to see how Evgenia and Kaetlyn (in a lesser extent than Evgenia though) received such inflated scores while Satoko, and a few others were hammered down :curse:

And that step sequence is one of my favourites...it's great as it is so that dumb "cover the entire surface" rule should be taken out or at least modified to a less severe punishment...:palmf:

I LOVE the changes Satoko made. Her SP dress, her LP choreo. I just love it so much. She'll keep fighting and she'll win for sure.

I just hope that it will be the last time that Satoko competed for Skate Canada. The experience was too harsh for her and other Japanese delegates. I think they are trying to uplift the Canadian skaters by bringing down the Japanese. Just sad! I hope she will make it big in the NHK and to the Grand Prix Final eventually. Much love for Satoko! :-)

So, you're claiming that...
  1. Skate Canada knowingly planned, plotted, and schemed to "bring down the Japanese".
  2. For the Ladies Free Skate event, Skate Canada utilized their lone judge (a.k.a. 'secret agent') on the panel to coerce and/or manipulate other event officials to bring about the downfall of the Japanese competitors.
  3. And lastly, that Skate Canada — that most guile, cunning and deceitful of federations — not only pulled off the same feat the day before for the Short Program segment, but were similarly successfully for both the Men's Short and Free Skate events too.
Come on, that's just ridiculous!! :furious:

Skate Canada is NOT "trying to uplift the Canadian skaters by bringing down the Japanese". How would Skate Canada even pull off such a plan when they DON'T even control the selection of the judges/officials at their own competition! One need only review the list of officials for any competition segment to realize what you're claiming is utter nonsense. For example:

Skate Canada 2016 - Ladies Free Program - Officials:

Referee | Mr. Paolo PIZZOCARI | ITA
Technical Controller | Ms. Mona ADOLFSEN | NOR
Technical Specialist | Mr. Michael HOPFES | MEX
Assistant Technical Specialist | Ms. Elena SAVOSTOVA | BLR

Judge No.1 | Ms. Lolita LABUNSKAIYA | RUS
Judge No.2 | Mr. Andreas WALDECK | GER
Judge No.3 | Ms. Saodat NUMANOVA | UZB
Judge No.4 | Ms. Katarina HENRIKSSON | SWE
Judge No.5 | Ms. Karen HOWARD | CAN
Judge No.6 | Mr. Feng HUANG | CHN
Judge No.7 | Ms. Chihee RHEE | KOR
Judge No.8 | Ms. Anne CAMMETT | USA
Judge No.9 | Mr. Kenji AMAKO | JPN

...The accusatory rhetoric by many [not just you Heero Yui; my post is not meant to single you out] is really getting to be over-the-top!!

Breathe deeply everyone.:peace:

I don't like Satoko's jumps for reasons many people have pointed out, but I've always liked Satoko because she always commit to her choreography and her movements are so refined.

That being said, I really love Satoko's Star Wars program. One of the best programs she's had imo. :disapp: at the invalidated step sequence. I hope Satoko don't get too discouraged, but we all know she'll work even harder.

ETA: Although she's been slammed with UR calls, her recent jumps do seem to have more spring than before. Good for her. :agree:

Yes her jumps are tiny but I love Satoko as a whole, such beautiful and graceful movements that seem to come naturally.

did he just kneel down a little cause she is tiny or cause she is Tiny Queen? :scratch2::biggrin:
after all Yuzu-Evgenia pictures i thought we werent gonna see any Yuzu-Satoko interaction :luv17:
Lol same. I like Evgenia interactions regarding Yuzu (such a cute fan girl), but I always prefer to see those with Yuzu and Satoko. :)

You know, He kind-hearted towards Satoko since her eyes were swollen after the competition.
Yuzuru as one of the top skaters in the world, he must know why the reason :dev2: he tried to cheer her up during the practice, sweet :luv17:

Basically I hate to complain about judging. But some judges in scate Canada were beyond my understanding... some figure skating fans other than Canadian and the skaters's fan who benefited feel unpleasant...:noshake:

for me, its not SC judging itself but inconsistencies of judging between competitions, if it was her 1st competition i would understand the stsq issue, but its her 3rd competition :ohwell:

I still remember WTT 2015 when Yuzu brought Satoko sneakers after she finished her program :luv17:
