Satoko Miyahara

I think Satoko still has a pretty good shot for GPF qualification unless she gets lots of UR calls like at Skate Canada. :confused2: Or maybe that's just my wish.

I'm also concerned we won't see her in the GPF, but it's for no fault of her own. She has skated beautifully and improved every aspect of her skating. In any case I can't wait to see the Planets/Star Wars again (I just hope they haven't tried too hard to "fix" the StSq).

Some bright spots: At Skate Canada the American judge had her #1 in PCS in the free skate, she and the Canadian both had her over 70 points. Morever, according to the Norwegian skating federation the TC from the event in Canada is not scheduled for the technical panel next weekend, so that's something I guess.

I've almost given up hope for a qualification at the GPF with Wakaba, Anna Pogorilaya and Maria Sotskova there but I hope she will skate better programs than at Skate Canada.
After how Wagner performed at Cup of China Satoko really has to be fourth at NHK to fall behind her, and I don't quite believe that she is going to place that low this time (although it's not totally unrealistic, of course). And even a third place would be enough.

you are so pessimistic , I am even hoping for Satoko & Wakaba 1,2 and both of them making GPF #delusional

I think a 3rd place won't be enough if the result is like this : 1. Pogorilaya 2. Higuchi 3. Satoko 4. Sotskova or 1.Sotskova 2.Higuchi 3. Satoko 4. Pogorilaya or 1.Higuchi 2. Sotskova/Pogo 3. Satoko 4. Sotskova/Pogo
She needs Sotskova to finish below 4th and/or Wakaba finishing below her to ensure a ticket if she is 3rd, i think. But now because of Wagner's finish, she doesn't need to win to qualify, silver should be enough. Both ladies can still make it actually, if Sotskova is below 4th and both Wakaba and Satoko make it to the podium.

Maybe the home crowd could work in her favour, who knows, I'd love to see her redeem herself after a disappointing Skate Canada :)

NHK sports news coverage on Yuzuru and Satoko. Satoko's part starts from 8:30 I think (Dailymotion works horribly on my PC)

In preparation for NHK Trophy, she's been practicing repeatedly not to rush into the 2nd and 3rd jumps and Hamada's been telling her not to think about the continuing jumps before taking off for the 1st one.
Yamato says that she's been jumping without problems in practice but she's so "stupidly serious" (his words, not mine:biggrin:) that she feels she has to lead the Japanese ladies which puts a lot of pressure on herself.

Good luck at NHK Trophy Satton! :hap10:

I laugh whenever I read what he says about her. I think they must have a great relationship, lol.

And that's good that skater and her coach have great relations. It seems, that Team Yamada/Tamura skaters have great relationship between each other ans their coaches:) Very amicable Team:)

By the way - I'm new to this Fan Fest, but I'm a Miyahara supporter since her first senior competitions...)

Yes, you are right of course. I did not calculate it carefully enough.

I found this video on twitter that explains Satoko's rotational speed. It's a bit difficult to understand for me so can anyone translate it correctly?

Only a summary of what the narrator said.

Satoko included in her practice jumps in both directions. Most skaters'rotation is towards the left. She can jump both directions [because originally right was her preferred direction].
Skaters' musculature is sometimes unbalanced because all spins and jumps are towards the left. This is why their rotation tends to be slow. Satoko has a balanced body musculature. This is why her rotations are very fast.

Wow! So now it is something that can be shown to anyone who say that Satoko cannot jump!

That's very interesting, thank you! I think this type of information belongs in the thread she had in The Edge.
