Satoko Miyahara

Tiny Queen delivered once again!! apart from almost missing the ending pose i think this was the best she skated this program, and so pissed she isnt getting any 9s in her PCS :palmf: i thought there was a deal that as long as her jumps are called she was gonna get all the PCS :slink:
anyway, here is her SP and Charlie White (i think?) fanboying over her

Thank you for the link  Well there are people who think Kaori should be leading after the SP so maybe we're seeing things that others don't :palmf: Glad they called the 3Lz but the 3Lo was finally fully rotated.

The skater's skater

Because the universe hasn't played with Satoko enough, apparently she has an inflammation in the instep of her left foot. (source)

Hoping for a quick recovery from this.

isnt this similar injury Yuzuru had because of practicing 4T, ahhhhhh please let it not be serious :dbana:

:eeking:

Hopefully it's not that because if it's anything similar, there's no time to recover this time...

ok, maybe Yuzuru's was more serious (fracture maybe, cant remember exactly) but pretty sure it was in his instep, that season he was attempting 4T in LP and one was in 2nd half, and we know Satoko works on 3T combo

Lisfranc joint ligament damage I think? The pain wasn't very specific at first and he continued to train and compete but then it got serious and he had to stop skating...

I read the original article and it says Satoko's practice today was inconsistent with landed jumps and falls; Hamada said she's dealing with "light inflammation". I sure hope they know what they're doing because she also had hip pain before Nationals and now this.

thats my hope as well, Satoko went through so much so i think if it was serious she wouldnt be competing

Ughhh I hope it's nothing too serious...Her 3Lo was a beauty in the short and now this. She just can't catch a break.:sad21:

I heard she is working on eliminating UR's by trying a different landing technique, from the "usual" toepick landing to a riskier "edge" landing. Can't say I really know what that means, but whatever - it may have something to do with those inconsistencies...

Usually inflammation is sort of a warning. It doesn't always mean damage to ligaments, but it's telling you you're pushing too much. It's possible the increase in training time has overworked her left foot a little.

I was not able to watch his live performance but I am subjugated by his perfectionism, it's a shame that it is still underscored at the level of the PCS consider that the CE there were higher scores, it is this which takes me away from this sport. in any case she did well.

well, I no longer even try to comprehend those PCS rules - I just trust my gut, and it looks like other people are starting to see Satoko's quality which is another victory in my book.

I just adore how structure of the program never clashes/interferes with Satoko's presence, character creation - the whole picture just pulls you inside this mysterious, seductive perspective that is created by Satoko's little gestures, musicality, balance in weighting feel of each movement, adjusting it to the mood of the piece of music, how the music transitions/picks up. What Satoko does in her programs represents for me totally mature take on projecting, taking responsibility of how music works with movement, how it all should be reflected in expression, how to 'tune' it right - and it really shows that she cares about what she's presenting: her face, moves, all with intention and intense focus.

What I adore also, is how multi-dimensional Satoko can make up her SP - yes, her jumps can be picked up form all angles in the world to judge them for best or worst, but why not to do the same with her performance quality as a whole? She's one of those skaters that makes stops moving and pauses sing in their own tempo; the flow of her movement, shapes created, mixing delicacy/intricacy with control and precision especially in her step sequences gives a 360 degrees experience to feel, not only see. And to be honest, at this point I don't give a damn if anybody will laugh at me 'waxing poetics' over Satoko or going overboard about her skating - she's one of very few skaters for me that have lasting effect, no matter what and does not depend on her jumps solely, despite what other people think.

Yeah I posted this two pages back but can't say I understand what exactly she's doing either... I guess it has to do with the timing. This season she often kept rotating on the toepick but the landing of the 3Lo in the short came down more on the edge. I thought the landing looked stranger than usual in real time (which made some people think the jump was once again UR) but I guess that's what she means by "work in progress".
