Senior Free Dance

i noticed the adjustment that scott made and the problems coming down from the last lift, but still

that said, i want D/L to come back. the complete blowout worked against V/M in a way because everyone just expected it. it's almost anticlimatic. even V/M seemed pleased but were thinking ahead already. what were they really going to do to screw this up? fall down 17 times? break into a jigg? they were a class by themselves even in the warmup. i just appreciate the push that D/L gave to V/M now that i see what it's like when there's a 30+ gap between them and their next competitor.

that said, UOC could have stood up well against D/L and i particularly noticed scott attacking it. i heard that the FD is tessa's time and the OD depends on scott. well, this FD had my eyes glued to scott. he was such a lead. but both were fluid and fast, and i'm just thrilled.

I agree -- overall, I think V&M's performance was good -- just not the best I've seen from them. However, I think they were using this opportunity (knowing they were going to definitely win Nationals) to experiment with speed and emotion, which I think was an excellent idea. Now they have a better idea of what works, and what they still need to work on going into 4CCs and Worlds.

And I have to agree with your last comment -- one of the reasons I love this team is the way Scott leads all their dances. Very, very nice.

I guess it's just me, but I thought V&M's FD wasn't the best I'd seen from them all season. To me, It seemed like they were over-emoting. Also, some parts seemed a bit sloppy (I thought Scott came out of his second twizzle a bit early, and when he does that "opening the umbrella" thing, either he or Tessa misjudged the distance, which made him have to hop to readjust). There was definitely some trouble in the second half of the serpentine lift. I also thought that they were ahead of the music in some parts.

However, I thought if they were experimenting in speed and emotion, Nationals was definitely the place to do it. With the lead they had, like Tracy said, it's a good place to take risks. I just hope they have the program a little more under control at 4CCs and Worlds.

I must disagree with you - i think, they have best skating at Nationals. Yes, they have some mistakes, but they was so fast, so emotional, so powerfull ,so IN there dances. And this time i really understand there FD and there idea of this young first love. Maybe i am wrong, but what mean mistakes, when you fell everything move, every emotions.

What a fantastic event! I was so thrilled with the depth and the fight that went on between 2nd and 5th. Amazing. Tessa & Scott were breathtking, as usual. The thing that i liked about them throughout the4 entire competition was that although it would have taken about six falls to cost them the title, they didn't just sit back and take it. In both the OD and FD, they were attacking the programs with more intensity and speed than i'd ever seen them do. It's great that they proved that they deserved the title and exparimented in an environment where it wouldn't cost them. If they had attacked their OD that way at the GPF, I think they would have gotten a medal. As for Weaver/Poje, I'm going to say that I love their FD for the millionth time this season, even with the mistakes. He looked tentative throughout the program after the fall, and I thknk that caused a few losses in unison on the twizzles. All that said, i'm so happy that they won silver. Just a correction, I think I saw it written earlier that he fell on a lift. He actually fell of a highlight move, where he was supposed to slide on one knee while she twizzled. If I saw wrong, I appologize. I liked McCurdey/Coreno as well. Crone & Poirier absolutely flored me the entire competition. I expected that they would do well, but I didn't think they'd be this amazing. Reminds me of V/M's 1st senior nats in 05. Wow.
