Senior Ladies Free

Fumie_Fumie are you there in the arena, or watching on TV?

Thanks so much for the play-by-play.

One of the things that impressed people last year at Worlds was Joannie's stunning comeback. There she lay, crushed and defeated in 16th place after the short. But she fought back valiantly, giving the 5th best long program of the night to finish 10th, preserving Canada's 2nd ladies' spot this year.

One of the things I've been wondering was, who would get that 2nd spot Joannie fought so courageously for?

Wouldn’t that be ironic? :ohwell:

Well, I still believe Joannie would have to make a couple of major mistakes to lose to Mira and Mira would have to be completely flawless to beat Joannie. If Joannie delivers her Skate Canada or her Cup of Russia LP against a clean Mira at Canadians, I would definitely feel that would be enough for Joannie to still claim the Canadian title. At Skate Canada, Joannie completed 6 clean triples in the LP and had the 3rd best LP, and at Cup of Russia, she landed 7 triples, 6 of them were clean, and had the 2nd best LP. I would be VERY surprised to see Mira make it through an entire LP without her trademark under-rotating of jumps sneaking in at some point. Her technique does not come anywhere close to Joannie when she is on. Leung had 2 under-rotated jumps in her Skate America LP and 2 under-rotated jumps in her Trophee Eric Bompard LP as well.

Starting Order

1 Brittany Novakowski BC/YT
2 Marie-Eve Lavigne QC
3 Katherine De Repentigny CO
4 Devon Neuls BC/YT
5 Dana Zhalko-Tytarenko EO
6 Diane Szmiett WO
7 Mylène Brodeur QC
8 Amélie Lacoste QC
9 Erin Scherrer WO
10 Kathryn Kang BC/YT
11 Jessica Dubé QC
12 Lesley Hawker CO
13 Kristen Walker AB/NT/NU
14 Erika Tisluck QC
15 Cynthia Phaneuf QC
16 Myriane Samson QC
17 Mira Leung BC/YT
18 Joannie Rochette QC

Skaters who caught my attention in their SP
- Jessica Dube: beautiful line, nice stroking, 3lz to boot
- Lesley Hawker: she is far down - she skated like she did 2 or 3 years ago, before becoming bronze medalist. will she come back?
- Kristen Walker: She only has easy triples, and cleanly executed. Will she be able to hold her ground?
- Erika Tisluck: Rumours have been around the raw talented she has. Now, will she prove it with equally good LP?
- Cynthia Phaneuf: she got 3lz, 3f back, and now it is time to show off.
- Myriane Samson: I thought it was a fluke when she did so well last year's nationals. She is starting to look like a serious contender.
- Mira Leung: good, I know she will do well
- Joannie Rochette: 3-3, what more should I say?

I guess I didn't elaborate, I meant to say Joannie, please land 3-3.

She has 3s-1/2l-2t series at the very end of her program, though.

I'm watching on TV, Country Canada. As many of the Canadian watchers might have noticed, I got a lot of help from PJ Kwong's commentary.

Thanks so much for the great PBP's -- I fell in love with PJ Kwong when I got to hear her - briefly - on ESPN 360 , she rocked!!!

Good flight! Brittany Novakowski. Came back strong after the dismal SP.

Go Hawker Go!!!

p.s. Hawker attempted, and fully rtated, a triple lutz triple loop in warm-up!! great for her! but she fell after landing the loop

It looks like we are doomed! The internet broadcast looks to be identical to the main network broadcast which just began - I think we are only going to see the final flight. 2 skaters have already skated in the 2nd flight. here are results:

1 Erin Scherrer
2 Amélie Lacoste
3 Diane Szmiett
4 Mylène Brodeur
5 Dana Zhalko-Tytarenko
6 Brittany Novakowski
7 Devon Neuls
8 Marie-Eve Lavigne
9 Katherine De Repentigny

It makes me mad just to realise that I am going to miss Kathryne Kang, Lesley Hawker and Jessical Dube's skating...

Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for the CBCCC coverage, but PJ really needs to learn when to talk and when to keep her mouth shut and let the skating do the talking. She is doing waaaay too much babbling at times and it's information that we really don't need.

Anyway...I know that's not going to be popular w/some here, but when three people on the CBC Main coverage can be quieter than one person on Country Canada, then...

Go Lesley!!!

Well, here we are thus far.
