Senior Ladies LP

Nagasu was crying before her performance, then basically nailed it (I'm sure there are some UR and such, but she stood up and fought, and got smily and happy towards the end, and kept her speed up, which is fast). Then she ended smiled and cried again.

I want to hug her. She has an injury apparently - good for her for fighting.:clap:

She's still not her old self, but it was really nice to see her fight trough after such breakdown.

I felt sorry to see her with tears in her eyes even before starting the program, and happy to see her smiling again at the end. But... she still has a problem with under-rotating her jumps.

Mirai - seems to be crying before start. 6 triples, 4 in combo, axel, quazi-pearl spin, nice footwork, no mis-steps. Pumping fists at end, tears of joy. She seems really happy. Commentators are gushing.

And into 2nd.

I could really careless whether she gets downgraded or not. Mirai went into that program an emotional wreck and came out pumping her fist. I'm happy for her no matter where she places.

that's strange. Should have been a really bad time for her to wait for this competition. come on, honey, I know you will do it:agree:

Uninspiring skate from Mirai. She would have been better staying home and letting her ankle heal. She looks very awkward, like she's only just learned the program or something. I bet she gets a bunch of downgrades on the jumps.
Uninspiring? It's the complete opposite for me.

Yeah, the downgrades were inevitable, but she totally fought through the entire program. Her smiling and pumping her fists at the end melted my heart.

Not her best skate in terms of technique, but that was one of the most satisfying emotional roller coasters I've seen unravel before me. All 4 minutes of it.

I couldn't agree more. Mirai gets the most emotionally rewarding performance of the night for me.

aww I wish I could see this!!!!! happy to hear that Mirai fought for it, good girl!!

Brittney - pretty purple dress, in shape, rather muscular.
4 triples, 2 in combo, 2 axels, 1 in combo. Nice footwork. No mis-steps, but nearly stumbles on a non-jump element. Seems happy.

Completely uninspiring. Yes, she stayed on her feet but there was no life in there at all until she hit her final pose. And the jumps were sloppy and every one of them looked UR to me, even though the judges seem to be overlooking some of that as well as propping her up with PCS.

ITA. Well said. By finishing the program pumping her fist, she's a winner.

Obviously not her best skate, but it took a lot of guts; she looked to be in a lot of pain before going out. I do almost think it would have been better to just stay home and let it heal, but she's a real fighter. I wish her all the best in the future.

What a comeback for Ashley, she's going to medal!
