Senior Original Dance

I'm impressed with Davis/White so far. (I predicted, btw, and still predict B/A, G/P, D/W.) The real surprise for me is that that M/Z are still behind NavBoms. Verrrry interesting.

Yes, I agree. You know, I never did understand what the hype was about this team. While I'm not a dance expert and they do have nice lines and tend to have better results/fans internatioally, I just don't get them. Last year, I was really pushing for one of those wild-card teams trying to make it to Italy and when M/Z tripped, I was surprised. Perhaps I just haven't learned to appreciate them, but they seem boring to me. I wonder if they will be overtaken by D/W?

Speaking of D/W, B/A and G/P I think that this a fantastic groups for US Dance. D/W have proven they can outskate G/P but I'm not yet convinced that they are the better team or are as advanced as G/P....We can send 3 teams to worlds in dance correct? I'd love to see this group!

Can't wait to see this event on t.v....hopefully this weekend! I was so impressed with Davis/White on the Grand Prix, and their nationals seem to be off to a strong start!

the fact that tanith and ben are going to win this thing is taken for granted. The other U.S teams have nochance. Don't take me wrong, i would love to see some close compotion out there, but they must be content with making the world team.

I agree, unless Tanith and Ben have a major problem, I don't see D/W or G/P beating them. Ironic how in the past few years the dance events - Novice through Sr.'s have become the hot events. This is fantastic for US Ice Dance! Hopefully, the top 3 teams will stay healthy, sane and have fun.

I think the real race is for 2nd - while I think that G/P are the better team (right now) between G/P & D/W, I think that D/W show great promise but are a bit green. I think that D/W's nerves got the best of them on the last dance and it cost them. Regardless, they are skating well and this is an event that next year, I will seriously consider purchasing tickets for (and taking more time off of work to come to MN earlier, and stay longer in a hotel, and eat more food ect...you get the point :-P )

if you do make it to MN we could form an Alaskan posse of two!

I love everything about nats and try to miss as little as possible lol

The theory I just heard is Morgan is too thin and the judges are sending them a message. She's lost all her power and is nothing but muscle and bone, and they're slow now.

Did she say she lost weight because of some spinal fractures and a special kind of yoga she got into while recovering? She's always been a thin girl...but I agree, she is a bit too thin.

While I don't know if this theory is actully correct, I for one, don't mind the message that it sends....

Bikram makes you lose water weight. It does not turn you into a skeleton, and she looked HIDEOUS at the Jimmy Fund event here in Mass. Everyone was talking about it the next day--how Tanith looked great (a relief after last year and it suggests that hollowed-eyed thing she had going really was just Olympic stress) and Morgan looked like she needed to be in a clinic. I hope she's actually eating that ice cream she talked about in her journal and keeping it down, because if you look skeletal next to Igor's girls, you have a problem.

why does the USFSA send that message by judges... they should take a proactive role in stopping skater starvation...

granted we cant get the US modelling people to take charge either, but still!!

Are there any pictures of her recently? I've not see many that show her thinner than she already was, which was thin....

If Morgan really does have an eating disorder -- that is, a mental illness that causes her to starve herself -- bad marks from the judges are not going to "send her a message." She will think that she did not skate well because she was too fat.

She looked painfully thin during the Nebelhorn Trophy earlier in the season, and I heard from a very reliable source that her Father was "thrilled" with their performance there in nearly beating the Kerr's for Gold. I was shocked by his reaction, as I'd have thought he'd be more concerned with his daughter's state of obvious ill health. It's very sad, and IMO they should be withdrawn from all competition until she is healthy again, for her own sake. Her well being as a person is more important than winning medals.

Maybe she'll get that starving yourself means you have no power, and no power means no speed, and no speed means you end up behind the juniors. And that she needs help. You don't have to tell me eating disorders are hard. Exhibit A is my ballroom instructor having to do therapy on the fly with "This isn't skating. This isn't ballet. I don't want you rail-thin" and me hearing him but not believing him. You don't get rid of buliemia or anorexia easily, but rewarding the behavior by placing highly someone who's obviously got a problem is not helpful, either.

If La Rhumba's source is right, it doesn't sound like she's getting the right message at home, and USFSA really doesn't have anything in place to send a message outside the judging system.

then they should get off their keesters and figure something out... it's obvious over the years that coaches don't seem to care about the issue... and maybe even some parents... someone has to look out for the US' athletes!
