Starts in a few minutes.

Rena Inoue and John Baldwin Jr. come in as 2-time defending championships and argueably the best in the field. Should they skate clean they most likely will walk away with this title.

The silver medal and the 2nd spot on the world team will most likely come down between two teams:

1. Naomi Nari Nam and Themistocles Leftheris - what a debut season at Skate America where they won the bronze medal and put two American teams on the podium for the first time in a long time. Their consistency make them poised for that 2nd spot.

2. Tiffany Vise and Derek Trent - they have gotten stronger and better this season with a new found confidence and daring moves. Look for this team to try to make history as the 1st pair to land a throw quad salchow. This new confidence makes them a threat for that 2nd spot.

There are also a couple of newbie seniors that could shake things up, they are:

1. Julia Vlassov and Drew Meekins - In a sport dominated by Russians, This team defied the odds and won the 2006 World Junior Champions.

2. Kendra Moyle and Andy Seitz - Joining Vlassov and Meekins on the world junior podium, this team could also be a dark horse in their quest for a podium finish here at nationals

See ya here :)

Okay, so I have gotten access to live report. I am sitting in the corner opposite the KnC. Let's see how this goes. I apologize in advance for any technical errors!

Wehrle and Kole "Black Hawk Down"

Dressed in black, 1 hand press lift with rotations, sbs 2A (she fell), throw 3R in which she leaned from the start and fell hard. Spirals. I am noticing his new longer hair that suits him quite well. Spirals are weak in edges and speed. s2twist that was landed heavily. Far apart sbs spin and out of synch. BODS spiral into pairs spin. Finished WAY ahead of music. They look good together, but just aren't together yet. On the throw, he whipped her too hard which caused the leaning. :

Obviously in ist, but not for long.

Howw odd that the top 2 teams are skating in the 1st group

Cool. Thanks EWalker :)

try to make history as the 1st pair to land a throw quad salchow

This statement should be changed the 1st U.S. pair to land a throw quad salchow.

Zhang & Zhang landed a perfect throw quad salchow at 2005 Nationals, although it's not a ISU sanctioned event.

Another Chinese pair Ding & Ren landed throw quad toe a number of times at ISU events such as GP, you can actually find the protocols.

Whoops..............Thanks for pointing that out. It was a typing error as I tend to type to fast

Inoue and Baldwin "Soul of Spain"

Open with nice choreography to the music into sbs 2A (!!!), throw 3a with a step out/foot down. They were very tenative going into the 3A. Spirals in which Rena smiles ... John looks tired. Split 2t (nice) into nice sbs spin. Looking really good to this point. Press lift to one hand with various changes in position and dismounted with 1 hand. The lift was shaky on John's part. The audience was worried! BODS into slow pair spin.

Well at least they got threw it with just little mistakes :)

Sy/Davis: "Carmen" and "Seniorita"

Nice flow with between the legs move into the split 2 twist. SBS 2Lz into lift, throw 3 sal. Fast and hard sbs spin, but got out of synch. The crowd is behind them! Spirals. He is better at the spiral than her! She looks very happy. Interesting entrance into the best pair spin so far...it had interesting positions and was noticiably faster than the others. BODS set perfetly to the music. I am not sure about the 2Lz, but it whatever it was, it was landed. They were nice, but they lost steam at the end. Confirmed... it was a sbs 2 TOE!

Nam and Leftheris " Jealousy"

Opening pose is very tango-esque. SBS 3 toes that were awesome! Great speed and flow into the throw 3 loop... GORGEOUS! Naomi sells the 1 hand press lift. Nice spirals. I can't take my eyes off of Naomi! SBS flying spin... a little off, but nice. Split 2twist. Leap into catch foot BODS with position variations. Pairs spin to close with character positions. WOW! They are awesome!

These scores are too low. Booing from the audience!

Wow, Naomi and Themistocles are closer to Rena and John than I expected. I have actually never seen them skate though (I'm Canadian and don't get ESPN).
