Turandot is probably the warhorse I hate the most... But who cares. It's Shoma. I belive he can pull off a great performance with it, even thought I'm not if this is the best music for him.

But after all, he even said he wanted to do a warhorse, and it's not Carmen or POTO, so stay determined! :agree:

So no deep V but we get a deep U?? Just kidding, I think the music/costume suits him well and good for his senior debut.

Just here to say that I like the costume and I dig the deep U (unlike deep V). I actually do enjoy warhorses so I'm super curious how Shoma will deal with Turandot.

If a warhorse, I am glad it is Turandot. :) Less obvious than R&J, Carmen, POTO etc. and I do like the music. Hope the cut is good. There are some lovely changes in 'style' of music, depending on the cut, that could be interesting to see.

I really like the colour of the costume, but want to see that weird neck ornamentation better to judge. It looks like curtain cord from the pics I have seen. :slink:

Perfect sum up
I'm fine with Turandot, I'll just wait to see the whole thing, he may bring something interesting.
For the costume, I'm not fond of this kind of velvet but it looks okay.

Guys, GS will be taking over ownership of Shoma's OP. After we have done it, you will need to change your bookmark for it, so keep an eye on the OP, and update when it belongs to GS Forum Staff rather than sky_fly.

So it's Skate America and Trophee Eric Bompard for Shoma. Good luck to him in his first senior GP! :)

I think he will do well. He already had a taste of how it is at 4CC last season, and he seems to have a steep learning curve.

Oh, how I wish I had more knowledge and terms to describe the choreo:hopelessness:, but here it is:

Before it was revealed, Shoma described his FS music as "overwhelming" so I thought it was going to be music Takahashi had used in the past. Anyway, it was Nessun Dorma (I hear it's sung by Paul Potts) but it wasn't overwhelming him at all. When I saw his SP at FaOI Makuhari, I didn't think he was used to the music yet, but it looked like he was completely comfortable with his FS already at DOI. It was a show version of his FS but he did two 3As (both were huge!) and 4T and they were all successful. Choreo was very Mihoko Higuchi-like (I think it's her again, but I can't be sure) and he did a cantilever which looked cool so I hope he keeps it for competition. He also did an eagle where he does something with his hands in the air. He got a well deserved standing ovation. According to reports, Plushy and Yuzuru were watching and Yuzuru looked happy when he was finished.

I didn't like his costume when I saw the photo of it, but it didn't bother me when I watched it live but I was on the 9th row so there was a bit of a distance. To be picky, I don't know what effect they're going for with the wide open neck.
From Sunday's show, Shoma and Yuka Nagai were the best 2 for me. Mura, Dice, Machida and Hiroaki Sato were excellent too but Shoma and Yuka were perfect and blew me away.
