Nicely done! I took a look at your other works and you're very talented  Thanks for sharing.

About the new Peter Pan shirt, I actually liked the strange shade of green of the first version but this looks ok as well. Lots of greens from TJ next season.

Nam just tweeted that he landed a side by side 4T with Shoma at FaOI Kanazawa finale

I also heard Shoma fell on one before it and hit his head. :slink:

Thanks Mikaboo! He's such a cute kid.

He looks so much grown up even over just the last few months. :)

Hope he didn't hit his head too hard, but yah for the 4T!

The new green shirt comes with just matt black trousers from the looks of it.

I am just praying the Japanese media doesn't pressure him too much to be the 'next superstar' / 'Hanyu's successor' etc. I hope that with Mao back and Yuzu hopefully fit and healthy, they'll lay off a bit. It would be good if he has this year to just get comfortable, bed down and develop his skills without ridiculous expectations being fostered.

He is such a cute kid, as you say, Newbiespectator (lovely picture, btw!) It has been nice to see him relaxed and smiling and clearly enjoying the show experience this summer.

Thanks mikaboo for the links. Hope Shoma is OK from his fall.

Glad to see bonding moments between Shoma and Nam who I think, along with Boyang Jin, are the erstwhile juniors who can pose a serious challenge in 2018. Nam must be towering over Shoma now.

He's been spending too much time with his senpai this summer
I guess his head is ok after all with all the crazy jumps he's doing but some of his falls are scary looking.

It's nice to see Nam and Shoma getting chummy. I hope to see some fierce and friendly rivalries amongst the teenage boys on the senior circuit next season.

Shoma already had so many shows during this off season.
-Charity in Fukuoka
-Charity in Kobe
-World Team Trophy EX
-Prince Ice World in Yokohama (6 shows)
-Fantasy on Ice in Makuhari (3 shows)
-Fantasy on Ice in Shizuoka (3 shows)
-Dream on Ice (4 shows)
-Fantasy on Ice in Kanazawa (3 shows)

He still has a few shows.
-Fantasy on Ice in Kobe (3 shows)
-Prince Ice World in Tokyo (4 shows)

At first, I really worried about him. He was injured at 4CC and JW. I didn't think he would fully recover soon.
Also he had never had so many shows before. So, he might get tired before the season starts.
However, it seems he has good experience through the shows, skating with lots of great skaters and skating new programs in front of audiences.
I hope it works well.

Yes, I hope he takes all necessary precautions. He is such a bright and promising young talent who I wish will be as injury-free as a figure skater can possibly be so we can see the fulfillment of that promise sooner rather than later.

Me too. One benefit of the ice shows that I also see for Shoma is that the shows help him overcome his innate shyness as he has opportunities there to interact/bond with his fellow skaters outside skating competitions. Also, skating in ice shows helps in increasing one's confidence in performing before a large audience as we saw in the case of Yuzuru and Joshua Farris,

Shoma has been chosen as one of Japan Olympic Committee's "Next Symbol Athletes".
He's one of the 19 athletes chosen and currently the only figure skater on the list.

I don't know what exactly his roles are, but it says he is expected to cooperate with JOC's promoting and marketing activities.
Hopefully, they already know that he's no Denis Ten :hopelessness: and don't expect too much from him.

Maybe simple photo ops and putting his face on posters. "Smile Shoma!"
In any case, this is great news for him as it will boost his funding.

I have noticed more smiling in all the photos from ice shows, so hopefully he has gained some valuable experience and is feeling more comfortable. :)

I think so. And during this summer show season, he's got some experience with ice shows to skate his competition programs before audience. It's good for him, competing in senior category from this season.

By the way, any show for him to apper is scheduled after Nagaoka?

4 more PIW Tokyo shows on July 19 and 20.

ETA: The 2nd show on the 19th will be shown live on BS Japan :cheer:

They're also showing some videos from the past of Yuzuru, Mao and Dai.

Thanks. I’m glad Shoma will have done so many shows this summer!
Go Shoma!:cheer:

Wow! Live broadcast is wonderful! They are conscious of FaOI live broadcast? I’m also looking forward to seeing the past precious videos of them!

P.S.It might be a silly question, but I didn’t understand well your comment about the decision of "Next Symbol Athletes". (“Not Denis Ten”,)
Which do you mean by that? Shoma isn’t good at being taken photos?

Newbie was just saying that maybe Shoma won't have to do anything as a "Next Symbol Athlete" except to get photos taken. And perhaps he should try to smile a little if that happens :p
I compared him to Denis because Denis seems capable of doing many things besides figure skating. See below, copied from Wikipedia.
Ten is the official ambassador for the Olympic Bidding Committee "Almaty 2022". He is a member of the Astana Presidential Sports Club[8] and the Political Party "Nur Otan". In 2013, he began producing his own ice show, "Denis Ten and Friends".
Overall, I'm very impressed with Denis and I think he'll succeed in whatever he'll choose to do later in life. Of course, Shoma is younger than Denis but Denis seems to have a natural talent for these things. I guess I could have used Yuzuru's name instead.

Denis and Yuzu both are very good at talking, being promoters, and being 'marketer friendly' that's just a talent they've both had naturally.
Shoma will need a bit of help to get used to it, but I think he'll be fine as a symbol athlete.
Uchimura is, and he barely talks at all!
They'll just have to find things within his comfort zone for him to promote.

Kohei has always been like that, and I've been following him since before 2008. Of course, Tomita (their previous leader and my absolute favorite) is like that too.

Yes, it really so! I love Tomita and Uchimura so much! You are familiar with Japanese gymnasts!

Mikaboo, Newbiespectator,

Thank you for your messages to my silly question:p. Actually, I don’t know well about Shoma’s character. I thought various things, for example, ‘Yes, he seems a bit tense when he is taken photos.’.. ‘I’ve heard Denis is like a hero in his country.’ Now I well know of your feelings!:agree:

Shoma will play a role as symbol athlete! And it’s good for him to become well known to people. Go Shoma!:cheer2:
