He works so hard and his hard work keeps paying off! So proud of him! He hasn't let the heartbreak at Worlds hold him back. Go, Shoma! :yahoo:

Congratulations to Shoma for the awesome SP at TCC!
Glad he had his リベンジ (revenge=redemption) skate after his disappointment at Worlds.
Great job using his frustration to fire him up to come back stronger. Pretty scary for the fans tho...

Adding my respect and congratulations. Well done, Shoma!
And an extra thank-you for what was probably my favorite SP of the season. I became completely obsessed with this music. :agree:

Can't stop grinning this morning (well, maybe when I discovered that another fan fest seems to have been renamed the **** on Shoma thread by some, but that's life on a forum, it seems :disapp:) and I hope he is able to give a good account of himself in the free too. I'm so happy for him!

At Worlds, I was so sad to see him crying and distraught and it was so good to see him so joyful in that step sequence last night. And smiling so much at the end! Tears for another reason from me!

Congrats Shoma!

His interview after SP (http://blog.livedoor.jp/hana0201402015-sub/archives/5713534.html#more, the 3rd video from the top)

(About 4 flip) I’m just feeling so good. I was able to do well with not just 4 flip, but 4t 3t and 3A and it was the best SP this season, I think.
Next year’s layout, provably I’ll put 4flip to SP at all competitions, so I want to work hard.
(About last Nessun Dorma this season) This program has helped me so much and have a lot of thought with it. I've had tears and smile so far. tomorrow I’ll try to get a nice performance so that I can finish with smile.
(About 4 flip in tomorrow’s FP) I want to avoid it (laugh) but I'm sure i'll challenge.

---------------------------------------------
Final Nessun Dorma, Go shoma! Put all of you thoughts on the rink! :hap10:Just hope your smile, not tears!

Uno accomplishes first confirmed quad flip at Team Challenge Cup; Team Asia takes lead

Uno, the 2015 world junior champion, had the top score with a 105.74, a personal best by almost 13 points, as he hit his historic opening quad flip and a quad toe loop-triple toe loop combination.

“I feel like it was 50-50 so I’m really surprised,” the 18-year old for Team Asia said. “I’m really lucky tonight that I made it.”

He added: “I’m extremely happy to have done something nobody else has. I think it was a fluke. I want to raise the bar in practice so this becomes the norm for me.”

“I recognized I’m also capable of performing better than in practice (like other skaters). My feel for the jump was better than on (lower difficulty level) loop and Salchow,” said Uno, who’d struggled with the jump in practice after arriving here.

Congrats Shoma. I'm just so happy for him, after the disappointment of Worlds. Can't wait for next season, to see how he improves and what kind of programs he will deliver.

I totally forgot this competition was going on! This is what I call pleasant surprises! Go Shoma!! Busting out something like this next season he'll definitely be world podium bound!

Congrats Shoma! I usually don't follow him so closely, but this is one for the history books. Now when Yuzuru will finally do his 4Lo I guess it will be the starting shot for the run on the 4A? I wonder how long we will have to wait.

Some pages back in this thread I predicted he would turn his 2A-1Lo-3F combo into 3A-1Lo-3F. That was worth 17 points, about the value of a quad and a half. Had he skated this program cleanly the score would have been huge. Plenty of time to do that next season though. Just a season of being a senior and already getting closer and closer to Yuzuru.

Shoma's combined score in TCC was 298,66. He was so close to joining the Club 300. Well, there's always next season ...

I think half of this forum has been renamed the **** on Satoko and Shoma forum  In all seriousness though, I talked to Jackie Wong on twitter and this is what he had to say:

Q: Some people have said Shoma's quad flip was prerotated. What do you think?
A: Everyone's jumps are "prerotated." That's just how figure skating jumping works.

Q: How about Satoko Miyahara's prerotations?
A: It's about when/how you tap in. Tapping forward on flip or lutz is basically impossible. There is a difference between natural prerotation and poor technique prerotation (like a toe-axel). Uno and Miyahara are the former.

Q: Should toe-axels be considered incomplete jumps just like underrotations are?
A: It's really a gray area. Unless they can show that you turned forward before you tap in, tough to call. There is also a difference between tapping in and having your toe rotate (which everyone does) and tapping in already forward.
