At least one of the guns was purchased legally - unlike the VA Tech shootings.

I read earlier today that the shooter had recently come off medication, but there was no comment about what medicine and why he was taking it. However, unlike the VA Tech killer where no one was shocked by who it was, people seem very surprised when this guy's identity was revealed. I hope they find some indication of why he chose to do this evil act.
