I was not impressed with many of the choices of music for the short programs - especially the ladies. Joannies was terrible. Leslies was nicecly arranged - standard piece, but at least one could hear a melody. The rest were lack lustre.

Some of the men's were better. Jeff Buttle always chooses interesting music. I hated Emanuel's choice.

I must disagree with you about Joannie's music. I love Little Wing and think it's a great choice to stand out amongst the classical of all the other ladies.

Liked Buttle's choice. Seemed different for him. I didn't get much impression of Sandhu's music — his bad performance was too distracting, lol.

Thought some of the pairs teams music choices left something to be desired. Hated the monotonous piece W/F chose. A melody can really help with presentation if you're having some difficulty with your elements.

Also found L/H and M/B's music choices to be somewhat cheesy. I actually remarked to my mother that I would wind up smashing the CD if I had to listen to that day in and day out at practice.

I just don't think Little Wing was musical enough for Joannie to skate to and really shine and for the judges to appreciate. In fact, I doubt many of the judges - especially European judges will get Little Wing. I didn't think her choreography even matched the music. It would be an okay program for a show.

Of the men, I liked Jeff's music best and Sean and Chris's music.

IMHO Joannie's short is incredable. I absolutly love it. It's very different from anything else out there and she skates it well. I like the fact that she took a risk on the music and IMO it worked. Women's skating needs some musical variety. I have no problem with classical and lyrical programs, but do they all have to be that way? Now if she can just skate it to potential...
