Skate Canada '08 to be held in Ottawa

That's exciting and surprising! Isn't Ottawa hosting the Canadian Nationals this year? And Quebec City has Skate Canada. I thought SC would go further out West.

Cdns this season is in Vancouver. The only way they could get further west is if they were in Victoria. ;) Ottawa had Cdns last time in 2006 and even though The Civic Centre is an old lady in dire need of a lot of work, I still had a wonderful time. Wish Scotiabank Place wasn't so far out from the city, but...Still starting to make plans for this time next year. :)

And don't forget last year's Skate Canada was in Victoria, so the only way they could get further west than that was to hold the competition in the Pacific Ocean. :p

Scotia Bank Place is about 30 to 40 minutes drive on Queensway from downtown Ottawa. It is a way out in Kanata. When a hockey game is on, the traffic from Ottawa to Kanata can be pretty bad.

Accommodation shouldn't be a problem, if you want to stay in Kanata though. There should be a lot of hotels/motels close by, because there is a sizable high -tech industry is located there.

2008 Junior nationals will be held in Ottawa. it will be in Nepean Sports Complex. Scotia Bank Place is too big a venue to warrant a junior event.

I'm so excited for SC in Ottawa! I have a good friend who lives there so I have accomodation already. ScotiaBank Place is a very nice arena as well even if it is sort of in the middle of nowhere.

What she said! I can't wait to go to SC next year. Can I start petitioning now for which skaters I'd like to see there?! LOL

Just out of curiosity, I googled Scotiabank Place to see what their concessions are like. I'm on a low sodium diet and have developed Type 2 Diabetes the last two years. So traditional arena food isn't exactly the best thing in the world for me. Although, if I hear the fries are good, I will spluge a little bit and treat myself. The ones at the Civic Centre were really good. Anyway...

There's a good choice of food there and not just the traditional fries, burger, hot dog, etc. There's one place that offers salads.

Could it be possible? Go to a skating event and actually *not* gain weight because there's more choice?

It's looking like a possiblity for Skate Canada 08. BTW....When do tickets go on sale? Anyone know?

I believe tickets go on sale at the end of this month. Check the link, because I think it listed something other than Ticketmaster as the vendor.

I plan to go, since I wasn't able to use my tickets this year. The countdown begins!

I noticed that at Scotiabank Place's website. It's Capital Tickets if I remember right.

Thanks Antilles!! Will be keeping a weather eye open!!

(Watched Pirates 1 this afternoon, so... ;) )
