Skaters and coaches among victims in DC plane crash

I have updated the 2025 Sectional Singles pages to add the Juvenile, Intermediate & Novice skaters. Among those added are those lost in the DC plane crash - they are now listed in bold red and their events listed in order of finish to reflect how well they did.

A link to the sectionals page is here:

Normally I don't link to the younger skaters to help protect their privacy, but here I feel it is warranted. I also posted the same for the other two sectional events to be fair. It took me about 6 hours to update but the kids are worth it.💐

Thank you for all that you do @labgoat.:thank::ghug:

Thanks and a hug back! I don’t think any of us will ever forget. It took me awhile to feel up to completing this job. I wanted to put the performances together but not in a sad way. I needed to show the joy of their competitions while also recognizing the other skaters as well. I only wish that the music was not so mangled for copyright purposes as it definitely destroys the performance aspect. The lost kids really had the time of their lives competing.

You did well. Whenever I have to deal with a bushel basket of medical problems, like now, I remind myself that I am 75 and have had a pretty good life, especially after I met my wife of 40 years.....and I look at your vid of poor Jinna and think of what might have been in store for her over the next 65 years......its just one way of grieving about my own issues and the Jinnas of the world. Somehow it helps me cope. To all those of you who still suffer over this terrible event...I feel for you...I have had PTSD watching air disasters live.....it will take us all awhile to get over this....in our hearts, we know these people, even if we have never met them....

I created a playlist for S&N on YT, adding many performances/programs that were not yet on Youtube.
I miss some that used to be on YT but whose links are no longer up (such as 96 Nationals/97 Cup of Russia...) - If anyone wants to take a look and/or contribute in some way, just get in touch!
I still think about this tragedy daily...
They were such a huge part of the reasons why I fell in love with this sport as a teenager.

I have seen so many beautiful performances by them lately on YouTube. Thankful for people who collected and uploaded them. What a fate to truly be a couple like this, to the end, in everything.

Most of the uploads come from events I still only had on my old tapes, so I had to recover all tapes, alongside a video-recorder that would work, find their performances scattered here and there, then get a good capture card to digitalize them... Huge work, but I am truly happy to be doing something in their memory. I still have about 10 or so to work on.
But you are right, it seems there just couldn't be one of them in this world without the other. Together from childhood to this absurd fate.

There was an NTSB hearing on the crash. The news showed some of the family members and showed a picture of Spencer. There was some not before seen footage. They said the helicopter pilot never saw the plane. The plane tried to climb but there was no time.
There's a very long video of the hearing if anyone is interested.
