Looking forward to Japan nationals...! Ladies especially, is usually excellent. Men too of course, but there seems a lot more talented competitors in the ladies. I hope for everyone to have clean skates!

Japan and Russian nationals makes the seasonal holidays great!

I hope for "good weather" on the internet between UK and Japan when the skating is on ("bad weather" can make the connection to our Slingbox in Japan a bit choppy...)

Wakaba is definitely the Junior who can reach the podium. Not saying that she will, since Satoko, Mao and Rika all have strong programs that can put them above 190-200+, but she has a chance to. And even if she doesn't, I doubt she won't make it the top 5.
It will be harder for Sota, who had trouble with jumps lately, but he can still make top 5 as well with clean skates. Podium will be much harder, considering Daisuke and Takahito recent results, but hey. Let's wait and see. I'd love to see a Yuzuru, Shoma and Sota podium. Not sure it will be for this year, but for the next ones? It can definitely happen!

Koshiro on NHK sports news. Apparently, he's the youngest out of all the competitors there.
DailyMotion
A YouTube link can be found in this tweet.

Koshiro says he likes to express and that's the kind of a skater he is aiming for.
He's been watching Charlie Chaplin movies many times since his FS was decided and realized that Chaplin is not only comical, but also expresses many emotions. Koshiro wants to express the emotions not just on the surface, but from the inside as well.
The announcer on the YT link said that Koshiro's practicing the 3A and a quad and plans to include them in his programs from next season.

Wish him luck at Nationals next week. I hope Fuji TV can show us his performances if he does good.

Yunas S and A are younger so he must be just the youngest of the men. I like Koshiro a lot so I'd like to see him do well a nats and maybe even get a spot at junior worlds. I worry about his SP though, his score always seems to bury him. It occurred to me that I kind of forgot why he always got such a bad score in his SP because his great FSs have always wiped his SPs from my mind  But looking back at his scores he really, really needs to work on his flip, his doubling and e calls on that almost hurt him more than not having his 3A yet. I also hope he's able to get his 3A soon...

thanks for the video and translation mikaboo!!! :thank:
ahh Koshiro, my little sunshine, i hope he does well at Nationals and we can see him at Junior Worlds :hap93:

The men's FS surely was interesting! Pity that so few skaters were clean, though. Congratulations to the medalists! :hap10:

I'm also very happy for Keiji, 4th place is the best he's done at senior nationals and now I'm really hoping that JSF sends him to 4CC (and I'm going to be really sad if they don't).

Also happy for Sota, who came in 6th place again despite mistakes in both programs (I really wish he can skate a clean SP and not fall in his FS at Junior Worlds), and for Ryuju, who improved his placement from last year's nationals.

Too bad about Sei though, they didn't air his FS but I read here that his FS didn't go very well and that's why he ended up only in 12th place. :ohwell:

Can't go around various threads to congratulate everybody so I'll just do it here.
Congratulations to all the medalists! Good job to everybody who survived NHK Trophy - J/GPF - Nationals and especially to Sota, Marin and YunaS who had to add 30 seconds to the FS after coming back from Spain. YunaS' 3Lz-3T-2Lo was amaaaazing.
Kind of sad that Rika was off the podium but I'm glad she'll go to 4CC and Worlds. Sad for YunaA too, but she now has a newly renovated home rink so she can get more sleep and train at a Olympic size skating rink :yes2: Better luck next year!
I do hope Fuji TV can somehow show us Koshiro's FS, Daichi's SP (got a standing ovation), and at least glimpses of skaters who'll be retiring after this season :sad21:

Oh and I'm extremely happy for Keiji. I hope he can make the most of his opportunity at 4CC and earn a GP assignment or two next season. Land that 4S!

Koshiro and YunaS were given the "Newcomers' Award" tonight. I wish Koshiro made the JW team but at least he's going to YOG. Sending 3 guys to JW who'll be turning senior next season (unless Sota stays junior) doesn't seem like a good idea but oh well.

I hope all the skaters get a well deserved rest during the new year's holidays and come back refreshed and ready for the 2nd half of the season.

congratulations to all medalists and world/4CC/JW teams!! i must admit i am very upset about Koshiro, not just because he didnt make the world team (at least we will see him at Youth Olympics) but they didnt show his perfect LP!!!! its a shame really cause he held onto the lead for quite a while and has 9th best LP score, moving up from 17th to 11th place, he would have been in top 10 if his SP didnt fail him once again :palmf:
anyway enough with Koshiro rant! i am very happy for Marin that she got selected and i hope she will stop being lazy (cause she said she doesnt like practicing ),practice more and be ready for JW!!

I rellay love this team since I saw them live at J-Nats in 2013-14 season for the first time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EulLqu002Uo (007 medley FD!). I think they did great job again at the recent J-Nats. :) http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3...-la-asuncion-2015-japanese-nationals-fd_sport

Emi/Marien going to compete at Mentor Nestle Torun Cup from January 6th (sooo soon!) before 4CC. Good luck to them to get minimum TES score, then get a go to Worlds in Boston by JSF. :cheer:

ETA. As always, thanks a lot NMURA for all the updated info on Japanese skaters, both domestic and int'l competitions and related online articles by J-media. :)

Did anyone else watch the coverage of Japan nationals, and feel sad at how many of the skaters were not shown?

Especially in the Ladies FS, where they only showed from group 3 - so we missed Yuki Nishino, Riona Kato, Miyabi Oba, Haruka Imai, Kaori Sakamoto, and Yuhana Yokoi among others.

Worse, someone who was at the men's competition told me it didn't look like the cameras were even operating until the last two groups. So there might not even be footage available for "complete" broadcasts sometime later :-/

I haven't watched the broadcast, but it's unfortunate that they only showed the later skaters... I hope there are videos out there that will be posted soon

lol I want to joke "They'll regret not recording Koshiro's first FS at sr nats when he's world champ!!" but at the same time I don't want to jinx him

The airing time was limited because of commercials (who wouldn't know though), so I can understand the way the hosting TV does. But, I just hope at least they have some sort of webstreaming service with a paid subscription just like Ice Network. That can satisfy viewers who want to see the whole competition while the provider and broadcasting companies can earn money from it.
