Skaters on Team Japan

They were so lovely to watch! They had a good start of JGP season!

I'll be crossing fingers for Koshiro. He REALLY wants to try 3A for his FP entrance jump, but it's still not there yet (at practice it ends with a fall, not sure it's fully rotated either). I'll go to practice later and I'll look if he can manage to land it. No doubt he's gonna train it.

Nicely done by team Japan.
Watched their performances and thought they all did a good job.
I want Koshiro to change his LP music though... The comparison can't do him any favors.

News clip about Team Hamada's training camp.
Part 1- Satoko
Part 2 - Marin and YunaS (Yuna is skating to her Notre Dame de Paris FS)
At the end of the video is everyone from Team Hamada. Shu Nakamura is there also. Did he change to Team Hamada?

^^ yes, quite good English by Lady Hamada.

I met Hamada in SA last year. She is very nice. you may meet her in this year's SA

a few more live repo about Hamada's current star student Satoko here. Many people have said that Satoko lacks ice presence. I watched her live twice. I agree, but that is when I sit in the front couple rows. her tiny frames really did not help.... But I was really impressed by her when I sit at a bit higher position. She got really impressive coverage and presence. I would say not less than any top tier lady skater.
Another thing, Satoko's jumps are very well known small. and it is indeed not so good watch live, especially lacks distance. but her ice tracing show no under-rotation on landing, so that part she is safe.

Congratulation to Rika and Yuna for their performances at JGP Czech! Rika's debuting performance is really strong and quite impressive. As for Yuna, despite of the mistakes on jumps, I do think she shows great improvement esp. in SS and her spins. Another thing I notice is that, from the ISU Bio, it looks like Yuna works with Lambiel for choreography:
http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00014693.htm

Her SP Thais' program was from last season, so perhaps she worked with one (or both) of the choreographers listed to make the program better. I'm wondering if anyone might know who Michel Shanonn is (as the other choreographer)?

I'm thinking Coach Hamada will not be at SA this year. I see that the competitors are Mao, Kanako, and Mai Mihara. Men are Shoma and Dice M. I don't think she coaches any of them. Satoko has Skate Canada this year. So maybe I will see her at SC.

And that's the first time I've ever heard her speak English. I'm impressed! Her English is a heck of a lot better than my Japanese!

where did you watch it? cause i cant find it at youtube channel :hopelessness:

I think people here have already seen SP of Team Japan, but in case,

Rika Kihira

Yuna Aoki

Mitsuki Sumoto

I'm really looking forward to seeing Rika's 3A in FS. At least single 3A. But, anyway, her other elements were excellent too. Surely next star skater of TJ.

I love Yuna A's performance too. Her skating is getting better, and her jumps seem to be more stable than last season. Maybe her body shape change has been stabilized, and her practice rink is operating now. Due to the compulsory element (Loop this time), she must have practiced 3Lz+3T in SP so hard. Although she failed this time, it seemed to me her jumping axis was good. I'm expecting her FS with 3Lz+3Lo very much.

And, Mitsuki, Smile !
I love his skating, especially his eagle is so beautiful. Needs more speed for spins, I'm afraid. Anyway, 63.72 is his PB, isn't it?
Looking forward to his FS too.

I agree about Mitsuki. I like his skating and I'm usually not concerned about skaters' facial expressions, but it would be nice to see him smile to the music he used.

I saw Yuna Aoki's FS live last weekend where she did the 3Lz3Lo there and fell on the 3Lo. She also fell on a single 3Lo. She's really lovely to watch though. I hope she can keep her 2nd assignment at JGP Estonia. Not sure where she needs to place to do so.

I'm impressed with Rika too. My impression of her is that she's inconsistent but you'd never guess that from the way she skated her SP. Good luck to her in the FS. Good luck to all of them in the FS :hap10:

Congratulations Rika for the silver medal :)

But honestly speaking, I thought she deserved Gold, even if she failed 3A

I also think Rika deserves gold everything considered even with a failed 3A attempt. Hope She can land her 3A-3T in next competition. Good girl puts her cool together after the fall. I think she really paid attention to the music and plenty of genius choreo/interpretation/transition ideas too, such as that 3S jumping pass (whole pass). Glad she learned much from Jeff and Dickson.
