But it hasn't changed at all! If a skater is pretty it is still an advantage. Is Mao ugly??? Is Yu Na ugly??? Is Kimmie ugly?? Are Caro, Miki, Alissa, Megan, Kiira, Susanna, Sarah ugly?? Are they sloppy??
They are all like models. The way they prepare their faces and dresses.
The "only" one that isn't really pretty and is sloppy was heavily criticized in all FS forums and she doesn't have the favors of the judges at all. You all know who I'm talking about.
Right or wrong, but beauty in FS still counts!!
Are you referring to Mira Leung? I agree.
Yes I was referring to Mira.
I understand and respect the opinion about the importance of taking care of one’s appearance for figure skaters. I can also see that gio was not making a case only about facial/physical attributes, either. Yet, I was surprised to see that the name of a specific individual as a negative example suddenly appeared in this context.
Perhaps I wouldn’t be able to do the best job in defending Mira because I have barely known her or her skate. But I was just really surprised to read these and did not enjoy seeing a young lady treated like this. And I thought it would be bad if nobody says anything to support her.
I certainly think that we have freedom to comment negative opinions against a skater. Yet, this needs to be balanced with respect and consideration, especially because we are all anonymous and the skaters are in a more vulnerable position with their identities known. I do not believe it fair to anonymously say things or use expressions that may be too harsh or disrespectful to directly communicate with them in person. It seems that a lot of skaters, their coaches, and their significant others visit this site. Many of the skaters are Minors in their ages. It would be nice if you could think of their well-being a little bit more and try to use expressions that are less harsh and a bit more constructive.
Sorry for being off the topic.
