Skating Tours

I have attended US Nationals several times, both individually and with tours. Does anyone have constructive thoughts about which tour providers you have had good experiences with?

I intend to go to 2009 Worlds in LA (unless it is moved of course) and still trying to decide going it alone vs. a tour.

I would appreciate your input.

I think for every tour company/travel agency, you'll find some people that like them and some that didn't like them. The different companies that specialize in skating tours have very different approachs. Make sure that you're comparing apples to apples, so that you don't compare a bargain tour to a 4 star tour.

I like the tour way, for these reasons you get great seats, you don't have to worry about hotels, they book your air unless you can drive, your bus pass to and from the hotel (if needed) usally you get the program free it's really not much more than doing it your self but it's lot less headache. This will be my 4th trip book through an agent and it's the only way I'd do it. Just booked mine for skate america and the seat are rows 1-7, hotel 2 blocks from arena.

Jhar55, if you don't mind saying, which tour operator(s) do you feel was most successful for you?

never used a tour... I normally just buddy up with some of the groupies on this board lol

not that I recommend it. The first time I was at nationals I stayed with my best friend who lives in Portland... after meeting 'the gang' I joined up with them in 06...

missed out on 07... but 08 should be a go - and hopefully Worlds 09 will as well!

Waxel, I've only used Colonial Travel so can't comment on the others. Never any problems with her. I think I saw a link to them on the home page.
