Smilies...how do I get them?

I've posting here now for over a year, and I still can't figure out how to put smiley faces/etc into my posts.

At the bottom of this page, it says that the smilies are on, but I can't see anything...

Help!

Can you see smilies in other people's posts? Do you see a "rock" smiley at the end of this sentence?

When you post, do you see a list of smilies to the right of the dialogue box? If so, what happens when you click on one of them?

Do you see "more" at the bottom right of the dialogue box? What happens when you click on it?

Type "colon rock colon" (change colon to the symbol ":") and submit. Do you see the smiley? Do you see the word "rock" ? Do you see any HTML code?

Can you see smilies on other Vboard forums, such as FSU?

Try this. Go to User CP -> Edit Options -> scroll all the way down and select "Standard editor" from the drop-down menu (you are set on "Basic Editor" now), click on "Save Changes." Anything different? (In any case this will make quotes, bold, etc. easier for you to do.)

The security settings in your browser may be at fault. If you have Internet Explorer, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Security, and make sure that you don't have anything crucial disabled, like Java Script. (You can reset on "medium" -- that's high enough security unless you go to suspicious sites like on-line gambling, LOL.). Also, make sure cookies are not disabled (Internet Options -> Privacy).

Thanks for the tips, I will try them.

I do see and use smilies at other boards I post at (including FSU,) so I'm not sure what the problem here is...

I've made no changes to my PC/IE settings, but recently I came to have the same problem.

"Standard editor" but now have to type the smilies,
[More] link just jumps up to the top of the page.

so maybe some minor change made to this forum and these links?

I don't know if it has anything to do with the trouble, but my internet explorer 5.5 tells me that there's error f'rinstance in the source of the "The Edge" page, by the 4 letter numeral error in the line 184, the IE5.5 can't get the cursor property. Similar on other pages.

I'm working on this problem by trying one thing at a time. There was a recent upgrade (last month), so I need to go down a detailed checklist to resolve the issue.

Is the problem with the Smiles solved already..? Because I can't use them, too (unless I type the code). Clicking on them in the Reply button does nothing.

I rememer that a few months ago I had no troubles using this feature. I use Opera.

I thought it was a problem on my end, but nubka's and sorcerer's posts made me wonder if this is the case.

Aww, too bad. It is by far the fastest browser I've used. Well, I can live with manually typing the smilie codes where I really need them, I guess.
