I was very impressed, and was like, this is an American??? Only 15, so who knows what will happen. A big surprise this year, for sure. I hope she trains well and avoids injury. Good luck!

So happy for Sophie’s win! I thought she was interesting when she was on the JGP for Switzerland, but back then I never would have imagined that she was on the road to being U.S. Junior National Champion!

At just 15, Sophie von Felten became the 2025 U.S. Junior National Champion—landing a quad Salchow and two triple Axels in a single program. But just days after that triumph, tragedy struck with the loss of several close friends in the Flight 5342 crash.

In this feature, von Felten reflects on her journey from Switzerland to Boston, her decision to represent the U.S., the highs and lows of international competition, and the new programs she’ll debut this season.

What are your thoughts on this skater? What do you like most about her skating?

Sophie is skating in the Cranberry Cup junior event tomorrow. Here’s a link to watch on YouTube; I do not know if the video will stay up for a few days the way other U.S. Figure Skating videos have. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHuML_ip8t0&list=PL-CheZaoFWwTkJNJlyDEpnOSKKbS4nZIg&index=8

Sophie had a good start to her season already, with a 2nd place at the Junior Team Cup (JGP selection event). Since no audio was available for that event, I dearly hope that this time we will get a video with audio. Best wishes to Sophie, I’ll be rooting for her! 🤞

Awesome performance technically; she did it justice on the artistic side too. Hopefully she has learned about the artist’s life and I look forward to watching her expression grow richer over the season. Kudos Sophie!🌹
