Standing Ovations Away from Home

Florent Amodio in his last LP ever at EC 2016 in Bratislava. The whole arena was on their feet for the second half of his program, clapping and cheering so loud that you could at times not hear the music. It was amazing, definitely one of the highlights for me.

Something that's harder to find is a program from a non-Russian skater that gets a standing ovation in a Russian event. Maybe Sasha Cohen? Not sure. Perhaps the standing ovation thing isn't something that's common in Russian viewing culture? Perhaps someone can elucidate.

Maybe not a full standing ovation but V/M did get a partial standing ovation and great reception for their Latin FD at 2011 Moscow Worlds.

My contribution is the Nice WC LP for Yuzu.
This was his first World Championship, in France, and that year there were strong contenders in France for the podium, Jobert and Amodio. Yuzu didn't have a ton of fans travelling around the world to see him skate yet.

Hanyu at Pyeongchang, though it was expected because of the number of Japanese fans there haha. My friend who went there told me, that they even told him to stand up and cheer for him lol

The duchesnay in Russia at 1990 euros was impressive. They arrived vilified everywhere yet won the crowd. 1990 worlds fd was loud too.
Dont remember Zhulin 1993
Many from Torvill and Dean. Basically their last four year of competition. Everytime.
2000 worlds doesnt count because at home but they almost broke the building.

Aliona and Bruno got one in Milan. On the whole the Italian audience was generous to many skaters. There were quite a few standing ovations, and not only for Italian skaters.
I also recall Kevin van der Perre from Belgium getting one at 2004 Worlds (which definitiely was not in Belgium, but I don't remember where it took place exactly).

I wish I had a clearer copy of this but, this is Maria Butyrskaya's free program from worlds in 1999....I was there and I can tell you that people began to stand after her final double axel. Being in the audience was very exciting and there was a buzz that didn't die down until after Maria got her marks and went back stage. That's possible...I do remember it was his Robin Hood programme and Joan Haanappel (former Dutch figure skater) was still providing the Dutch commentary at Eurosport.
