Stars on Ice opens in Halifax tomorrow. Chris Mabee just arrived at the Halifax airport (or his eerily identical twin) a few hours ago, apparently on a flight from Toronto. Has anyone heard about him being a last minute addition to the cast?

Cool. Although, since I just saw Mabee at Canadians, I'd rather see Shen and Zhao .......

Too bad, Mao and Shen & Zhao are not going to be in my city, otherwise i may want to go. The other cast members are sort of antiques.

Oh...Please let Shen and Zhao be at Toronto CSOI!! Oh please oh please oh please!!!!

Apparently, Dube and Davidson and Virtue and Moir have also been added as Guest Stars and you lucky people in Vancouver will be getting to see Mao.

Very, very lucky people in Vancouver....:)

edited to add...YES!!! They are doing the Toronto show!!! Okay, so not only will it be my last Brian Orser show, but more than likely of theirs as well...I knew I should have gotten that big thing of Puffs at Costco today.

Great news for the CSOI tour. Wish we could attend a show on the Canadian tour , but we're very happy that we got to see some of the US tour shows. :) If you're going to the CSOI tour, please consider posting reports/photos. Thanks!

BTW, I do not consider the cast members of the CSOI "antiques." It would be a personal thrill to see Brian O. one more time. I will miss him on the ice in shows, but I'm glad that he is staying involved in the sport.

I'll be at the Ottawa show on Saturday night. I wish that S & Z were doing that stop but no such luck. Well at least I got to see them last year. :)

give me the antiques any and every day!!!! they are soooooo much better to watch

Brian Orser is soooooooo smooth on the ice... so glad I got to see him skate live in 99

Just returned from the show.

Chris did 2 numbers, didn't recognize the music for either, and he didn't participate in the group numbers of course. Ina and Zimmerman did "Piece of My Heart", the crowd loved it, but it was almost entirely him lifting her, carrying her, tossing her around, with very little skating - think Brasseur and Eisler. That was their only number. Jen Robinson did "At Last", and "I Don't Want to Show Off", neither was terribly memorable but her dresses were pretty. Jeff did "Should I Stay or Should I Go" with a mohawk! and a song that sounded like a Disney animated movie song. Joannie did "Heartbreaker" and a great number to "Summertime" in a beautiful shell pink sparkly dress. Sale and Pelletier did "One Life" and "Superfreak", both were great. Todd Eldridge's 2 numbers were forgettable except for the weird patchwork "chaps" on his pants for the first one. Kurt did a BNL number, "Take it Easy" and seemed really off his game. He stumbled on some easy footwork early on and it looked almost like he hurt himself or had a problem with his skates, because the rest of the number was really cautious and sloppy. He seemed embarassed that people applauded. Then he did "If I Only Had a Brain" which is a masterpiece. Dubreuil and Lauzon did "Whole Lotta Love" which I liked a lot better live than on tv, and a shortened version of "Somewhere in Time"; the audience loved both numbers. Group numbers were mostly well done, if a little sloppy since it's the first night. Then there was Brian. His first number was "Night and Day" in sparkly pin-stripe pants. Typical Brian program. Then he skated to Neil Diamond, in a shirt that matched his earlier pants! The first part was "Happy Endings", then it changed to "Story of My Life" - they showed video clips while the music played and he stood in the dark at centre ice, then he started to skate and the full house stood and cheered through the entire number. He looked like he could hardly hold it together. He's a little slower, his back flips (he did several) aren't quite as dynamic and he's put on a few pounds, but he's still The Man.

Aw, too bad you didn't get to see Ina and Zimmerman's "Beautiful"...it WAS a beautiful, a departure from their usual trick-after-trick program, showed a different side of them. I love their trick-filled programs, too, though!

I like the "antiques", too!;)

And I sure hope S/Z will do the USA leg next year.

Here's an idea....how about if the Canadian cast does the US leg and the US cast does the Canadian leg of the tour one year? Wouldn't that be a neat switch?

Chris also won the silver medal at the 2006 Four Continents Competition (IMHO, he should have won the gold medal in that competition last year). I have nothing against Nobunari Oda (the winner of 2006 4CC) when I say this, but I felt that Chris should have won that one.

I am going to the Vancouver show. I saw Shen and Zhao last time. I'd rather see Chris Mabee, Virtue and Moir and Dube and Davison. Look forward to seeing Mao Asada.

wow.

Wow. Both Miki Ando and Shen & Zhao have been added to several shows. I have to go! This is fantastic news.
