Takahiko Kozuka

Congratulations to Taka and his sweet family! I'm happy he found happiness in life after his career end! :hb: :luv17: :hap36:

I love baby news! Congrats to Papa Taka and his lovely wife and their beautiful baby daughter! :yay:

At this year's 'The Ice', Takahiko doing the final step sq of Mao's Bells of Moscow while coping every steps turns and movements just PERFECTLY :jaw::jaw:(except one-hand biellman position at the end). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SC89me7pTxs

This is simply brilliant. I am just so happy to see him skate again and I have always loved Mao's Bells of Moscow program.

Sorry for this late reply, Violet Bliss. All is well with you. :):)
Hopefully this one will work for you. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5vapak

Taka's part from 9:25, but Bells starts with Jeff's at 7:47 which also makes me :love:. Jeff's skating and musicality is still out-of-this-world!

:luv17:

Thank you. What a treat to see the three brothers and Pang/Tong! They are as wonderful as ever. Mao and Jeff are great too but I've not missed them as much yet.

I saw the news on his Instagram. Takahito Mura has been using the new Kozuka blades for the last couple of years too. I hope they will eventually be available in the USA too. What an exciting new venture for Kozuka!

A wonderful news/release today: https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20180425-00000022-asahi-spo on "Kozuka Blades" a new blade for figure skating designed by Taka Kozuka, manufactured by 山一ハガネ/Yamaichi Special Steel http://www.yamaichi-hagane.co.jp/index.html . :) I knew he was working on blade-developing project for a while, and FINALLY! :points::2thumbs:

Website of Kozuka Blades: https://kozukablades.com

Based on the news links, Kozuka aims for creating blades for better endurance and long term usage. He has been working with Yamaichi as the company from Nagoya is specialized in metal processing (such as parts for automobile). The blades they're working on are made, not by soldering parts into one blade, but by 'cutting' the whole blade out of a piece of metal (of about 11 kg). They end up by creating the blade which is light weighted (for only 271g). So far the Japanese skaters who had helped testing the blades include Mura and Mariko Kihara. Yes, Mura says he's been using the blades at least 2 yrs and without encountering the problem of breaking down of blades. From the website above, they're actually accepting order of the blades now.

It's really admirable that Kozuka can put his dream into practices.

:yes: Re website, I hope they will soon create one available in English/other languages, assuming many will be also interested in his blazes. Sorry for this late reply and many thanks to you, cohkaix, for more detailed information! :thank:

Here's another article on his blades posted online today. :) https://sports.yahoo.co.jp/column/detail/201804290004-spnavi?p=1

I hope not only will the design (with updates if necessary) stand the test of time and help skaters by reducing their injury risks as well as the frequency of their replacing their boots, but also the company will make enough profit to recoup the development cost and make this business/project sustainable. Some high-profile/influencial competitive skaters trying these blades and liking them enough to spread his/her words to other skaters would be a huge plus.
