Takahito Mura

Great skate by Taka tonight. Very warm reception from the crowd for his efforts. Massimo Scali gave him great choreography that really seems to suit him. Still a little unsure about the costume, but all in all a great program.

Such a great performance from Taka! and I imagine if he were a Canadian :scratch3:
Anyway, I just watched the top 4 performances at SC and was impressed by Taka's strong and Patrick's beautiful performances the most!
Hope he does well tomorrow, too!

The men were pretty amazing. Definitely loved Taka, and Patrick was wonderful too. He seemed to just sort of lose himself in the music ( and I mean that in a good way). Thoroughly enjoyed all the competitions tonight.

Good skate from Taka today. Charlie's choreography seems to really suit him. I hope they work together in the future. Congratulations.

as i said in my recap of TDF, i think Takahito is under appreciated. I really loved his performance in the FS. i felt so bad when he fell in the huge puddle on the last jump :sad21:

I am 100% sure I will cry my heart out if he wins! But I'll be just so happy to see him skate because I missed his skating so much since TdF!

I am 100% sure I will cry my heart out if he wins! But I'll be just so happy to see him skate because I missed his skating so much since TdF!
I'll always cheer for him no matter what! Go for it, Takahito!!!! Believe in yourself! You CAN do it!!!

Looking forward to seeing him, especially that fabulous step sequence in the SP. If he could just tame down those jumps a little bit so he wouldn't hurt himself!...Watch someday he'll come out and show us all and have the American costume look with black pants and a bowling shirt (and no sparklies or fringe). We'd probably all die!

That puddle was more like a lake! He has really good material this year. You know someone's the real deal when people clap for the step sequences.

Awww. Mura said in an interview that he sprained his ankle again after TdF...

But he also said that 4T which had been unstable lately came back finally and he regained his confidence a bit.
He says while aiming for the podium finish, he would like to concentrate more on himself and his own performance.
Apparently he's landing many quads in the official practice, so I hope he's in a good condition!!

BTW, his SP skating order is 21, right after Shoma!
As usual, he looked so good in his 3 piece suit in the opening ceremony & draw!!!

Thanks for the info! A good start order then, hope it'll bring him luck I like that Takahito is not your typical Japanese skater appearance wise! His style is also different, and that's what makes him special

"It's not so much about the placement, but I feels it's important to find out how much I can do, in terms of scores and performances, because it's pre-Olympics season. This season so far I made few mistakes in competitions, but I feel that programs themselves received good evaluations. There is room for improvements, so I'd like to challenge further. I have a feeling that he may not be in 100% condition yet, but seeing very brief practice footage he actually looks pretty good. :luv17:

Okay... I really need to vent! As much as I'm excited to see him skate, I'm already feeling really sad how he's so UNDERAPPRECIATED, not only by judges but also by media, even ones from his own country.

Can you believe this, of all the coverage on Japan Nationals on TV news (as far as I know but I do serious search on Mura's stuff), aside from the live streaming of the draw, there was ONLY 2 SECONDS of footage of him actually TALKING, even that was about how he feels sad Yuzuru is not there, nothing about himself. (Plus maybe another 8 sec and 10 sec PRACTICE footage, along with few brief footage of him actually MOVING, like entering the venue, mingling with others etc.)

I mean... this is Takahito's 12th (CONSECUTIVE) Japan Nationals, finishing within 10th in ALL of the past ones (8/8/5/3/10 - coming back after injury/5/5/3/6/5/3) including 3 times bronze. It's not easy to achieve this, without his talent and hard-work.

I understand how media wants to focus on Uno and other young skaters like Tanaka & Tomono (rightfully so and I like them very much too), but I wish, at least, show some more respect for veterans like Mura. AND it's not even like he's declining toward the end of his skating career, rather he still keeps upgrading technical contents difficulties and improving steps, skating & other components.
I just don't understand why...

Oh well, I guess this gives me more reasons and motivations to cheer for this wonderful skater (w/ sexy hair )!!

How I would love to see Takahito give the skate of his life tomorrow, and take the national title!

Shoma has many more years (and surely national titles) ahead of him, whereas Takahito most likely does not... and he might never have a better opportunity to become national champion, than right now...

I absolutely agree with you. I've always felt he was under-appreciated and under-scored. He seems to work so hard and appears to be so humble. I love how strong his jumps always look. As much as I love Shoma I am thrilled that Takahito is in first place. I'm always rooting for him and wish him all the best for tomorrow and hope he has the greatest skate of his life!
