Tatiana Volosozhar & Maxim Trankov

I was so nervous I barely could watch the competition... I am so proud of them, that was the right answer to the questions of yesterday!
My alltime favourite is still the Black Swan but I have a feeling, that Dracula could even top it... Who could be more perfect for the role of Dracula? Max is made for it.
Now I really look forward to the GP Events.
I hope that they got back a bit of confidence and start working again with a lot of motivation.
I am so happy that they are back :cheer:

I’ve watched the Dracula program a few times via the link that was posted in this thread. There is a very small technical glitch at 3:42. It’s unfortunate because the music changes character right there, just as Max lifts Tanya up. The music is like the sun coming out from behind the clouds …it’s a beautiful moment and just at that split-second, the video jumps ahead and we miss the crescendo of the music aligned with the crescendo of the choreography. I think we miss about 2 beats. If anyone comes across a different clip where that tiny recording error doesn’t exist, it would be most welcome…

Also, if you visit the Nebelhorn website, you can find an interview with V+T (in English). I tried to paste it here, but it didn’t work. Tanya said their LP performance was “… not very very good, but …good.” Like all of you, I’m so thrilled that V+T rose to the occasion when they had to. Champions have a way of doing that…..

I loved hearing Max's comments in the press conference! He goes into detail about the preparation it took for them get to the point of competing again and winning. It's so genuine. He also talks about his feelings on quads and why he won't do them with Tatiana. He is so sweet with her, they are adorable together! Here's the link, it's a must watch: http://youtu.be/jZ64dF4nV4M

what did he say when he said "If she asked me one day 'okay lets go for quad throw' I will say no because first she'd have to ________"? It sounds like "burn the [something]", then everyone laughs?

Edit: NVM NVM I got that VERY wrong  he said "she have to give birth to baby", bless him

Congratulations!!
I realized again that I missed them so much last season.

Yes! I guess we all have been waiting for their return to competition for 18 months! It has paid off: their gold medal today is a very good start of the season. :yay:

I was re-watching their Black Swan and I think the dramatic musics fit them well (Romeo/Juliet, Black Swan, JCS, Dracula). I like all of those better than the Violin Muse (my least favorite :slink:). I too think that when Dracula get's as crisp and clean as JCS was, it'll be one of their iconic programs!

I loved their FP! It really suits them and will be even better when they've had time to polish and perfect it. And what woman in her right mind wouldn't want to be bitten by sexy Dracula Trankov? ;)

I cannot wait to see their FP in TV... it'll be SUPERB if skated cleanly.

I love the story, the facial expressions and the choice of music. it fits them perfectly.
I only wish they could change the final pose- it looks out of place, as if choreographed in the last minute, so it doesn't represent the climax of the program so well imo.

I totally agree!
He is pretending to be licking his hands or wiping his mouth in the end as in "I'm bloody from biting her", do I get that right?
I think they should absolutely keep that but maybe have them both standing and her dropping in his arms in the end or something.
But apart from that I'm in love with the program.

Hi everyone, I don't think I have posted here before, anyway I just watched Meagan and Erics SP and FP and I have also watched Maxim and Tatianas SP and FP and I'm soooo scared. There is a huge gap between the two pairs scoring wise and I know that Maxim and Tatiana had some difficulties and Level 2 on some elements but even if they wore level 4 and skated cleanly I doubt it would win over Meagan and Eric so do you guys know anything about if Maxim and Tatiana are going to change something in their programs or anything that might increase their scores and also what are you guys opinion on the two pairs and who do you think will dominate this season???

I am kind of nervous too but it's still very early in the season (and D/R's program was at essentially a domestic competition...they've never gotten anywhere near those scores internationally (at least component-wise)). I think Tat and Max were just nervous as it was their first competition back after a year and need some time to get "back in the swing of things." Their components were low (too low, in my opinion) but the judges did give them great GOE on 90% of the elements (+2 and +3) so that shows that could mean they're prepared to give them big scores.

I'm sure they're back now and know what they need to work on. I can't see them increasing the tech (maybe getting a quad twist later) but now I think the most important thing they can do is skate faster and be consistent. I think they will be fine (however if their components don't rise, then I will be nervous). Plus, NHK is a while away so there's plenty of time to change/work on things. Without a doubt it's going to be between Tat and Max, Sui/Han, and D/R this season. I can't see any of these teams being off the podium with clean/semi-clean skates. Tat/Max may not win but they should surely be on the podium.

In terms of current performances, I think it's worth remembering that Tatiana and Maxim are coming back from over a year of not competing or training because of Max's injury, whereas Duhamel and Radford are at their career and physical peak. I think it's not surprising that Tatiana and Max look rustier at the moment than D/R. It was good for them to compete at an international competition early, to get their nerves under control and find out what the judges might think of their programs. Now they can work on refining their programs and improving their fitness without having that "first competition of the comeback season" milestone looming over them. Their GP events aren't until November, so they have time to work on things.

Edit: I just rewatched Tat and Max's post-LP interview at Nebelhorn, and at least there they don't seem too fussed by the prospect of not winning every competition ever. I can't say what their main motivation is since I don't know them personally, but maybe having already won the OGM and all their other achievements helps them look at winning in a different light. After all, if they're not on the very top of the podium this season, they're still the reigning Olympic champions, and no one can take that away from them. :)

Actually, I just realised that out of all the pair teams competing this season, V/T and Stolbova/Klimov are the only ones who have an individual Olympic medal!

Also, i suspect we should not be fussed as long a they skate beautifully - if they place second after D/R, the fans still win =D
I'm mostly worried as people will go on again mistranslating Max and shitstorming if V/T lose to D/R - fans are not always gracious =(
