Tatiana Volosozhar & Maxim Trankov

Back to TEB 2011 (again LOL) but I have to mention how BEAUTIFUL I think Tati´s hair was during that competition. It shines more than usual, looks lighter and also much thicker. Wonder if she had done something special with it.

Danya.... Why am I not able to watch the video you posted on vk (even I signed it up) and YouTube??? Huh.... I really wanna see Tanya being rescued.....

I'm guessing there's something about Tanya that makes Max want to be the best man he can be. Not to mention that he seems to be "putty in her hands" (American saying). Good for you, Tanya :)
.

This is so well said, mttvonice! For Max, it seems like Tanya makes him want to be the best version of himself, and until he teamed up with her, that "best self" could never surface. Perhaps he blooms in her sunshine! (how's that for sappy!?!) In the video, when Max pulls Tanya out of the way of a skater's blade, the commentator is talking about couples that have "it," or the quality of "itness" - that indefinable quality that makes them sparkle, their chemistry, their cosmic level of unity...they definitely have "it"!

Btw, someone said this awhile ago - and I agree: reading this forum has become a daily treat for me, a little pick-me-up in the middle of a busy workday. So thank you all for everything you post - all the pictures, videos, and discussions (really, who else can I fangirl with about these two? No one else would understand my excitement about all things V/T!)...many thanks!:bow:

I totally agree! Unfortunately, Instagram and Youtube are blocked at work, so that's why I can only post at night...boo...

Which reminds me, annafer, YOU ARE MY HERO!!!!  Thank you SO, SO MUCH for your adorable and awesome tumblr and Instagram pages!!!

Thanks also to borzaya for the translation of what TAT said (and she was right!)! And thanks to orangella96 for the heart-warming V&T pics.

danya - it's such a coincidence that you found that video! I was watching it last night and was planning to post it today! (I guess it's the "cosmic" mind connection among this "sports family!")

I had three favorite parts--at 1:45 or so, the guy is like, "it's kinda funny that she's better [with Max] than with her former husband, who is the coach," and then the lady corrects him and says it's her "former partner," but we all know that he was ACTUALLY CORRECT when he said "former husband"!!

I also noticed the part at 3:10 where Max rescues Tanya, but honestly, I think any male partner would do the same...(or at least I would hope so!)

The other part I liked was at 11:28 where they're supposed to be commenting on the Chinese pair, but then they are like "whoa!" to something that happens off-screen, and then the guy says something like, "that's one of the things we shouldn't be doing--saying whoa when the camera is on someone else--but the Russian girl [must be Tanya!] just came up eye-level with us, and we're two stories up!" I guess that must've been the twist lift!!

And then at 19:03 when they're saying the throw 3Lo is so large that Tanya could fly over 2 coaches, a love seat, AND an ottoman! Unbelievable is right!!

In the past weeks I have read and watched many many interviews with them and a few things stand out, although I cannot point the exact interview they might be from.

Max said that when one of them makes a mistake, they never call it his mistake or her mistake, it is always our mistake. He despises that approach in the figure skating team (I don't wonder why:)). He was very adamant that it should not be personalized to one. It is a team's mistake. And I have seen he follows what he preaches in the press conferences, it is always we, we, we. We made some mistakes, we did not skate to the best of our ability, we are not happy with our skating, etc. I am thinking may be that is the real reason he did not like Savchenko, as he had seen that she and Ingo had publicly pointed the finger at Szolkowy in the past.
I have been blown away by the level of support they give each other when the other makes a mistake. Such tenderness to the other is a privilege to see. Each of them is beating him/herself up over their own mistakes, but when it comes to the other, the mistake is brushed over for comfort.
Their loyalty to the coach is something that any coach can only dream about. They heap praises on Nina all the time.

Max really has an opinion on anything, which means he is well informed and well read.

There was a question about the Black Swan routine in one interview, regarding the fact it was a sad ending because the girl dies in the end. And he said that for him it doesn't feel like an unhappy ending because the girl did get her dream and died after she realized her dream, and that makes the story uplifting. I have never before seen that angle. He can be really surprising.

Also in a press conference at the end of 2010 he said that he has never said that Oleg V. is evil or something, only that they did not have the same values and principals, and that with Mozer, those turned out to coincide for them. That when having preliminary conversations with her, they all agreed that family is the most important thing, also the atmosphere in the team, and a far second would be money and fame. Whereas with Oleg, he was always told that money and fame are everything. That he should never say that he cannot win, has weaknesses, etc, because then he will not win.

I read in an interview with Mozer that for a long time Max has been used to to say that he was carrying a "unsuccessful" strain and only in the last two years did she hear him say "I am successful". Imagine what kind of psychological therapy and transformation this man went through with his amazing team. It makes one believe in miracles.

Speaking of Skate Canada, here's the medal ceremony!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOraUzV605I

Cute moments (because they always do something cute in the medal ceremonies!)
Around 4:40, Max grabs Tanya's waist so she doesn't fall over when the old guy is putting the medal around her neck.

Around 10:20, Max takes Tanya's medal and puts both his and hers in front of her eyes, like big glasses! I think this is the first time (or one of the first times), he started putting the medals around Tanya's face! Here's a pic:

And in 12:00-12:25 there's a cute pose for a picture, and Tanya fixing Max's hair.

Though my favorite video from Skate Canada is the one that was posted earlier:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upEWx_5ZUj4
0:56 Max: "Because I have my beautiful swan, it's my partner," and Tanya's smile
And I just love, love, love how Tanya shakes her head so adorably at 1:45 when Max says "I'm an aggressor in my life, and I'm aggressor in this program." Soo cute!! She's probably thinking, "not around me, you're not!"

Oh yeah, and I agree with mttvonice and everyone else, I totally love Max with the guyliner!! :)

eli60056, I liked all those interviews too!

But I have to say, Max is not quite telling the truth! :) If he makes a mistake (like when he randomly fell in 2013 Worlds FS), he calls it "my mistake," but if Tanya makes a mistake, then it is "THEIR mistake." Max's QUEEN does not make mistakes!!

More seriously, I do agree with your point--I just love how supportive they are of one another, and it's so different than what you see in other teams, like S/S. In some ways I actually like watching their 2012 GPF FS, just so I can see Tanya try to comfort Max at the end, and 2013 GPF FS, so I can see Max comfort Tanya... (Of course it's much easier for Max because he can just wrap Tanya in his arms, but Tanya can't quite hold on to him sometimes. )

Ooh, look, I found Max's Youtube channel!!
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpIO5d11WQoPt74_VjI49yA/videos

I am not at all surprised that the last three videos he's posted are of Tanya! ;)

....and in the comment section for the video he posted in April 2013 of their vacation in Mexico, people were asking why Tanya was vacationing with Max instead of Stas, and Max said....

Just cause in Russia sport is not a hobby is a job. So we have two weeks for vacation like all the peoole, goverment payd for vacation, so we have to go together! is not a problem for us :)

Thought that was funny :)

I love that video! They can hardly contain their affection! It's like they can't wait for the camera to be turned off so they can just attack each other

:cry::cry: I wanna watch the videos that you guys talking about!!! Most of the Skate Canada videos that you guys talking about (Max rescuing Tanya; medal ceremony), I can't watch it through YouTube or vk!!!!! Anybody has it in on Vimeo??? Most likely because I'm in Australia, YouTube block those videos due to infringement of copyrights.....

Yup! You are right! Although I feel bad for them when they made mistakes because I know how good they can be, but the moments of supporting each other after it is so warming to watch....

As Max himself admitted, his life changed completely after 2010. The right people knew how to get the best out of him, on and off the ice.

:laugh::laugh: Really Max? These two are phenomenal with their answers. I wonder why they're the only ones "forced" to go together in vacations, because I'm sure the government is paying for other athlete's vacations too and yet each goes their own way. I don't know, but I find them even cuter when they're half lying or issuing non-denial denials.

Good morning from Spain everybody!!:party2:
Thank you annafer for the vimeo videos! I couldn´t watch them in youtube too. Another day without pics... I want they back together right now!!!:laugh:

Like so many of you already said, to open the thread in the morning or at mid day after a busy first half of the day of work - it makes my day! Not only can I watch videos of our favorites that makes me smile to the ears, I also have a bunch of people from all over the world to share this with! THANK YOU ALL! :)

I'm so impressed by the work that some of you put down in finding videos, articles, photos, quotes etc! You  .

I just watched the video from Skate Canada and when they played the Russian anthem I was thinking about the fact that Tanya changed nationality when she started skating with Max. The conditions for figure skating are so so so much better in Russia than in Ukraine, so as far as I understand, Ukraine was never an option. I have no intention to start discussing politics here, but I guess the current situation between Russia and Ukraine must somehow feel troublesome to her/them. Her family is still living there etc.

I have been thinking about that since this situation started, it was during the olympic games and I remember I though if it could affect her skating...
