Tatsuki Machida

Is there any reaction pic from the wonderboy Olympic champ himself?? lol
lol what the hell is a "reaction pic"?? Does Yuzu have to show a sad face in some photos to give you evidence that he's sad for Machida's retirement? I still can't figure out how a "reaction pic" for this specific situation would look like. Ridiculous.

Was it necessary to reply to this old post? I kindly asked everyone to stop with the ridiculous fanwars in this thread. Unless you want to write a respectful post for Tatsuki (because this is his thread), please do not perpetuate silly arguments.

I am wondering about Tatsuki's mother. I've heard she has been ill. Is it serious, though? Maybe she has gotten better?

i don't know what to feel. Right when I start feeling his Sym 9 LP at GPF (as I have stated) that the program is more cohesive vehicle... oh dear Tatsuki please come back whenever you feel comfortable.
Just when I became his fan, just when you started to feel his LP... the guy decides to retire. I feel like laughing and crying at the same time.

There's nothing wrong with his mother. She was actually there in the arena when he announced his retirement because he asked her to come.

But it's true that she was ill, a couple of years ago or so because she used to work 2 jobs in order to pay for his skating and she got sick and hospitalized. Tatsuki asked her to quit one of her jobs and promised her he would do his best to become better and better, so that ice shows would start inviting him and he would make money to support himself.

I made a little collection of Tatsuki's best programs for all of his fans, old and new, so that we can still have his skating in this difficult time.

Find Love (Medalist On Ice 2006) - his performance at the exhibition gala of the 2006 senior Japanese National Championship. He was invited after he won the junior National Championship a month before that.
Peach (Japanese National Championship 2008)
Swan Lake (Japanese National Championship 2008)
Casablanca (Japanese National Championship 2009) - both Casablanca and Celos were great performances - he finished the 2009 Nationals on the 4th place, and was first substitute for the Vancouver Olympics.
Celos - Tango Jalousie (Japanese National Championship 2009)
Happy Feet (Nebelhorn Trophy 2010)
Dark Eyes - EX version (Dreams On Ice 2010)
Concierto de Aranjuez (Japan Super Challenge 2012)
Dark Eyes - competition version (4CC 2012) - this particular performance remained a fond memory to him because he skated a powerful and clean program.
F-U-Y-A (Cup Of China 2012) - Stephane Lambiel choreographed this program for him and while at first he was reticent of the music, he began to love it and couldn't wait to bring something new and unexpected to competitions.
Don't Stop Me Now (Ice Gala in Bolzano 2012) - he also skated this program at the Sochi gala for the last time, because he says this represents his younger years rather than what he is as a skater now.
Byakuyako - self choreographed (Medalist On Ice 2013) - inspired after the novel Byakuyako
East Of Eden (Worlds 2014) - no commentary; he chose this program under the motto "carve your own path", which eventually he did by the end of the season.
Firebird (Worlds 2014) - no commentary; after watching Ashley Wagner's Black Swan, he mentioned he couldn't get the program out of his mind. So he went and asked Phillip Mills to choreograph for him and that was the beginning of their 3 year partnership.
Les Demoiselles De Rochefort (Worlds 2014) - in an interview last summer, Tatsuki mentioned this program represents the skater he considers himself to be today.
East Of Eden - EX version, self choreographed the changes (Stars On Ice 2014)
Je Te Veux - self choreographed (Prince Ice World 2014) - inspired after a photo that shows two lovers in Paris. He was so nervous about how the audience would react to his program, he mentioned he felt nauseous the days before the show.
Symphony no 9 (Skate America 2014) - in Tatsuki's words, the extremity of symphonic skating
Fantasy For Violin & Orchestra (Japanese National Championship 2014) - a program whose main theme is sad love. Tatsuki revealed it is based on personal experiences.

You are free to watch them and even comment on which did you like and for what reasons. :)

Farewell, Tatsuki. May you find joy and success in the new life you're building. There will be no one like you in Japanese and even world figure skating.

Thank you for the link. I almost don't want to watch it, I'm afraid it'll be too emotional, but I have to see his last skate. Wow, still, what a shock.

This may be a dumb question but is it true that Machida didn't have any sponsors? Or is the JSF suppose to be in charge of that? Like funding their skaters?

He didn't have any sponsor companies as far as I know but I'm not 100% certain.

I think Team Japan as complete has some sponsors. I think JSF works like US Federation. Skater get funding (I think coaching, coreographer, costumes and ice time) or at least partly depending on position. I´m guessing being de facto Number 2 (ISU ranking as July) Machida ´s funding should be pretty high. Also Kansai university should provide ice time (I don´t think Waseda has an Ice Rink).

Do you remeber watching any CM with Machida in it? Or event where he was himself (No Mao, Yuzu, Dai)? Is not is pretty safe to say he didn´t have one.

I'm pretty sure he never made any commercials and/or headlined any events. One would think he would have gotten some deals after last season but he didn't.

Is it possible that he turned them down to focus on his schooling? It's strange that he wouldn't have gotten anything.

I'm still very much confused to be honest. 2 months ago in an article published by Tatjana Flade he said he didn't like how some people said men's figure skating had lost its appeal in Japan after Dai retired and that he felt the responsibility to continue his legacy at the highest level. He also mentioned he wanted to show younger skaters that it is possible to skate and study at the same time... unfortunately time seems to have shown him otherwise. There was probably something else that quickened his decision but we will never know.

From Misha Ge

Time is flying by, and still cant believe that a one of talented & great skater & friend will not compete with us on ProCompetitions. Still remember how we first meet about 5 years ago in Lake Arrowhead and how we training in there together for few years, remember how we start compete same time from SeniorsB and reach all the way to compete at OG together, and how i watched his amazing success in Saitama. Watching back and realizing how time flies by. Its really sad to say Good Bye Tatsuki, but we all wishing and hoping that future will bring you more happiness and success to you in any field you do, and how hard working person you are im sure you will success. The talent athlete, great friend, and one of the hardest working skater i know - Tatsuki Machita. With all best wishes your friend MG :) (P.S. As we hear from interview if not wrong, that you want study Medical, hm... imagining you will be look good in Doctors Robe #DrMachita ;)

Depend. The brand should fit the sportman/artist.

By example:
Daisuke-- Some beer, tell me if knowing Dai´s taste for getting a little drink happy at dinners doesn´t made sense ;) Amino vittal and some brand of food.
Kanako- Adidas, girl looks beatiful even when ugly crying. ANA, Brother Industries and Otsuka Pharmaceutical
Mao- I think some creams and chocolates Nestle, and some other brands, but she is the most popular sportwoman in Japan so she has a lot
Yuzuru- Monster Hunter (video game for Nintendo Wii U), ANA, and some brand of chocolates and gum,Amino vittal and some brand of food but he is OG so he is hot commodity right now. Also he is young so is easy for brands to pick him.
Takahiko Kozuka- Toyota, where he works

Also is worth notting that all this skaters have something i commun, they starting winning really early. So some sponsors have been with them since a lot of time.

Machida by his own account doesn´t like to be around a lot of people, and would prefer to be in a silent places, wich will made difficult for promoting a brand.

So lets see wich products brands should fit Machida:
Books
I guess food
Maybe wine, he looks like a wine kind of guy, or maybe whishkey
Suits
Cars

Probably brands aproached Machida, or would have approached if he should have choosed to stay another year with good results.
