Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir

hehe :) I am a musician... i hate music cuts... strangely, this one doesn't hurt my feelings.. i have no idea what everyone is talking about ;)

the ones that really irritate me this year.. H/D... sorry folks but no.

What I love about Tessa and Scott's FD is that there are a lot of different layers that they've worked into this piece. For those interested, I thought I'd share two posts written by a guy on FB. I blurred out his name for privacy, but it was posted on a public forum (The Skating Lesson FB). It was in response to a lady who said she didn't see how all 3 pieces connected in VM's FD and particularly didn't like how it went from instrumental to vocal. (I screenshot'd it because I thought it was really insightful and I knew I'd want to revisit it again as their free dance progresses).

thank you for sharing these posts... I realize that perhaps it is exactly because of my training that i don't mind vocals coming in much later (like in D/R's LP)... I am used to getting to a more intense section which adds vocals... I wouldn't compare it quite to Beethoven's 9th where there is 40 minutes or so of instrumental music before the choir gets in :) that's a bit extreme but yeah. A couple minutes of instrumental music setting up a song works very well for me.

I think what matters here is how it works within the emotional range of the piece. That's why I prefer some music cuts to others. For instance, I do not enjoy Mao's cut from the SP as much as I think the LP is brilliant... maybe it's a question of personal taste...

I actually find the music editing really well done. It's just that every time until the spin I am totally bewitched by what they are doing, and when the vocals get in it's not the same anymore, it's like suddenly reality kicks in. But I'm glad to hear many of you don't have this issue, so hopefully by the end of the season it won't bother me anymore.

Go, Tessa and Scott :yay: :luv17:.

Video of the entire practice session on Thursday morning (focus is on Tessa and Scott)

They seem in good spirits. I spotted Leanna Caron. Wonder if she's on the judging panel.

FWIW, I think USFS president Sam Auxier also is in Marseilles.
He (or someone who strongly resembles him) was watching from the stands today. Sorry, I don't remember when exactly I saw him in a camera shot of spectators. I watched portions of both the Junior and Senior events.
Maybe federation presidents simply consider the GPF/JGPF important enough for them to attend in person??

Anyway, thanks for the videos. (Haven't had a chance to watch yet.)

Congrats to V&M on winning the GPF today with a new WR!!!!! They now have won every title available to them and they beat P&C twice in a row. I wasn't sure exactly how they would fit in in this comeback, but they're on top again! :yay: And I like their new FD costumes more than the old ones! :)

Yes, there are plenty of them! LOL

Congratulations on the amazing GPF victory, Tessa and Scott.
So well deserved! They are head and shoulders above the rest of the field, so I really was hoping for their first GPF victory.

Will they compete at 4CC, anyone knows?

YAY! they are finally GPF champions. that took them a long time to achieve that goal despite all their other successes.

I am impressed with their dedication upon returning.... they knew they had work to do and every competition they show up stronger and stronger. They took their rivals very seriously and I am sure they do not take any win for granted. That's the attitude of champions. I like the other teams on the podium as well but VM are my old flame ;) i cannot wait to see them again live at Nationals !!!! YAY!!!!!
