I am very impressed, again - how punctuated, sharp and synchronized they movement on the floor is, doing chooreos, especially for that style. And at the same time, they truly show a personality in it - both of them, making stunning effect. Not even mentioning the spark going between them...I hope there will be more treats coming!

since there were various mentions of that Jackie Wong's ranking of 2016/17 50 top moments, I thought I'd post it there - number #2 on the list, Tessa and Scott's SD at Worlds 2017.

What can I say? Relating to some YT/Internet comments seen about this SD, for some, the level of perfection, precision mixed with freedom of movement and expression, boldness of their expression and overall effect, 'pull' created onto audiences by that dance is too much and too unbearable, hence the hate. It's kind of 'understandable' as there's so much to cherish and admire and some people are getting lost even on the sole fact that they are back with strength and confidence; some who, on the other hand, are being lost for words about the dance, keep fat-shaming Tessa, hair-shaming Scott or accusing them for stealing title from others...It's just never enough for some.

I am happy to see this SD on the list as this was really striking moment of the whole season. Happy to see them enjoying that journey, still:) And what got to me lately, is that I wish them to do so many more programs, so many new themes...For me, it's not a questioning if they would be able to do something, interpret something - it's all about excitement HOW they would do something, portray characters, express the music...

People are always going to complain... The hate Tessa and Scott are recieving is an inevitable side effect of their success.
IMHO that SD was THE program and THE performance of the season. It was stunning from the first outing, and it kept growing until Worlds, were it really was a mile above anybody else: it was a masterclass in technique, showmanship and art, I think any criticism is just envious nitpicking.
Tessa's body is obviously more than fine since she is a healthy athlete winning every competition she entered for an entire season, and Scott's hair is just his own business (I really don't understand all the talk about it). A lot of people complained about their victory with a "fall", or even just about their score for that FD: they were lucky the mistake didn't mess up with the levels, but apart from that it was their best FD of the season, so the results were more than fair, and anyone denying that doesn't understand this sport or is watching it with a very biased eye

thank you sarama a lot for this post...I do realize that for some people there such post like mine is useless/unnecessary as negativity and hate are second nature of some viewers and are coming as you said as an inevitable part of Tessa and Scott's success. But recently, when I re-watched their last season's Worlds/GPF/other performances (SDs in particular), I saw this critic (more like hate and shaming) and wondered just why there is so much focus on their appearance (body, hair etc.), not on the dance itself...I guess that when there is no point to criticise constructively the dance with no errors and all level 4s in place, some people just want to depreciate them using every 'argument' they could. and as a general Ice Dance enthusiast myself, it blows my mind - I'd pass on any critic of the dance as a vehicle (its style, music, expression, movement etc., as it could not be everyone's cup of tea), but to use a perfect performance to shaming them as individuals, athletes? That's a no for me, I am sorry.

As for Tessa's body, I often think how ignorant/insecure/close-minded are people who pour all this 'fat' comments on her...The ignorance in that subject is particularly painful as we're born with certain genotype for our bodies' form, with certain tendencies towards our shape. And Tessa is for me an inspiration and a motivation to take care of a body I have - as she seems to feel so confident and so good in hers; she embraces how she looks and for me it's great to see different body types in Ice Dance and how amazing all of them could look like on ice performing. Shame should be put on those who accept only one particular body standard for skating/Ice Dance and even more shame should be put on those who evaluate the discipline and athletic content of teams just through body type/look filters.

Apologies for rambling about this subject, but once in a while I just get annoyed and fired up reading some comments and want to pour out my thoughts. Myself, I am aware that I have my share of stupid and immature comments/posts in the past, but I'd never do such a thing to see discipline and athletes - especially on Tessa and Scott's level - only through appearances.

And their 3rd World title in Helsinki was not a creation of luck nor an accident - they put so much effort, work, dedication, focus and determination into this come-back season I was surprised myself. And yet, after all those years together, 2 Olympic circles and 10 years competitive senior career they showed that they can grow more, develop and fit in current Ice Dance reality after 2 years of break. It's actually funny that people are picking up this stumble of Scott in FD, but ignore levels lost, shallow edge work or poor ice coverage of other teams - it's always easy to spot a fall/stumble, but it's the hardest thing it seems to appreciate and value a purity of quality in general movement. But as you said - people are seeing things they want to see, they would ignore the obvious ones, being usually the best/most positive ones.

I absolutely understand you, don't worry, sometimes I get annoyed as well with ridiculous comments about T&S. For example I developed some deep dislike towards Krylova when she said in an interview that Tessa got lazy and fat after winning Worlds in 2012....... it's obvious that if she feels it's okay to say such a thing, some random people on the internet feel entitled to express very offensive opinions regarding T&S, but clearly it's just because they are envious: obviously P/C would now be 3-time World champions, and WeaPo would be the top Canadian team with almost a certainty to win a team medal in Pyeongchang, if V/M hadn't come back, and that's why many fans are so bitter about them, there is a lot of this mentality going around: that they have won enough already, and should leave room for other people, as though it's a fault they started winning so young:shrug:
I have never seen them any better or happier to be on the ice, so to me they are on their prime now and I really can't see why they shouldn't be competing, continuing to improve this sport, and being wonderful ambassadors for it.

Tessa and Scott could have the best skate of all time and break a bunch of records and certain people would still hate on them, There amazing and its sad that some people don't share the same view as we do, but with success and love comes bitterness and hatred. Their short dance was amazing and deserves to be praised<3

:thank: RemyRose for all of updates provided, include the above!

and yet the campaign began on them referencing Satanic works/promoting this...Seriously, these days I ask myself: what it takes to someone's perception to make such stories and convince themselves that they are one and only truth? Some people seem to be focused only on proving Satanic correlations between songs chosen for SD and same intentions of Tessa and Scott. Believe me - I would understand if someone would only state that the song does not suit with him/her well, but to condemn skaters, blame them about the way they are seeing/perceiving the song itself - it's just plain wrong. I highly, highly doubt that promote Satanic content was in mind of Tessa and Scott compiling the dance, yet some will convince themselves otherwise and mention only this theory every time they'll perform it:drama:

again, apologies for the ramble, but this is entire new level of confusing bulls*** poured over Tessa and Scott even before the actual program was shown in full...

Hey NoNameFace, can you tell us more about this satanic polemic? I thought the music for the SD was chosen by MF Dubreuil, so does it mean that she is a satanist too?

I think it's more like a one person, but... yeah. Weird.

You've seen her ritual dancing during competitions, right? Must be satanic! :dev2:

Well, it's more common than what you think. They are normal people. But they help each other.

Did you see the VM logo on Tessa's website?

If you go that way, the Moulin Rouge film has quite some conspiracy literature on the net, being a satanist symbol blablabla, check it out on google.

I guess after the Pizzagate thing I shouldn't be surprised by any conspiracy theory, but... :reye:

BTW, was the "Tessa's secret baby" conspiracy theory also propagated by more than one wacko fan? If that person (or those people) are still around, I can imagine they could take this "satanic polemic" to even more ridiculous lengths... :rolleye:

go to the Programs for 2017/18 season thread on Edge forum there and see few latest pages. Those who are spreading such opinions/theories should speak for themselves, I can only share my feelings about that, since I have no intention to make any Satan-related correlations between any skater, coach or anyone, taking music into consideration, especially this chosen in figure skating.
