Thanks MM. I think too, that the topic has gotten hot, especially when we are down to naming names.
:agree:
I do think from my original query that the skater has no say but can appeal to the graces of their Feds who must ensure that the ISU will approve. This can and does happen but not for Lambiel who is a top 1-3 skater. The Bulgarians are fine. Sara M, Carolina, Capelinni and Lannotte will not be able to appeal to their Feds
As for the Americans, I am sure the avid fans will want to see Kimmie in the mix whether they like her or not. Many others will also like to see Emily. If they are chosen, we are left with Allysa, Bebe, Katie and the much anticipated Caroline.
My own preference would be Emily, Caroline and Alyssa at SA with Bebe, Katie and Kimmie going elsewhere.
I'm not privy to the USFS way of thinking, but I do think what they say is not really how they feel. Of course, money does dictate much of their decision. But their two top male skaters are not only medaless but showing poor skating as well. I hope we get to see more of Abbott and bring on Carriere and any other junior boy who did well in Juniors last year'
I would prefer Johnny or Evan but not both plus Abbot and Carriere, with Steenberg, Mroz, and Halverson to get some other GP event. I think it is time to turn the page with the American men.
The Pairs must have McLaughlin and Brubaker. While I love Naomi in Singles, I think her Pairs are not all that interesting since they do not have a good rapport while skating. But that's another thread and jmo.
The Dance, with the anticipation of the Bulgarians showing up, I would put B&A in SC to see if they are able to claim the number 2 position in the World. Davis and White against the numero uno team in the World would be exciting at SA.
The way the GP events are divied up in June or whenever, will be most interesting and serious predictions will emanate.
