Skating with emotion does not actually replace choreography.

Could some of you stop trying to find flaws in Yuna's program so that Adelina's win can be justified? Yuna did the best she could do - she skated to the music, had tight choreo, made no mistake, all of which made some, if not all, commentators to think she may have won it by the end of her long program, or at least the scores would have come quite close. Adelina made some mistakes but she was energetic or whatever she was and had skyrocketed in PCS to win.

That said, let me toss out one question out there. If Yuna Kim was skating for Russia, and was aiming for her second gold, and laid out two programs back to back like she did yesterday and today, do you think Adelina would have scored higher than Yuna in FS and their scores would've been tied in SP (even though in SP Yuna actually had a higher BV)?

I don't think people can confidentially say yes to that. Therefore, yeah, I'm not 100% sure she deserved to win, but she did, so that's that.

The point is Adelina won, and people crying foul is not going to change anything. Maybe under fair judging, or maybe anywhere else other than Russia, Adelina could still have won--or not -- but we will never know.

It was all fixed, and the controversy didn't happen in the other disciplines besides the ladies because the result corresponded with the fix.

When I watched ice dance, I felt that D/W was fixed. But they also skated well-enough that they would have won anyway, regardless of the fix. Their new world record score for how they actually skated was not deserved, IMO.

I'm not sure if Patrick had a fix this time, though. I think Canada was over-zealous in their dream of gaining the first gold medal in men's, and Patrick was fixed way too much, way too early and had gotten such a inflation reputation going on that Canada might have decided not to fix Patrick, which was wise, because if Patrick had won with how he skated, can you imagine the hate that Patrick would have had to suffer for the rest of his life? But I think Javier had a bit of a fix going on there as well, but didn't skate well enough to capitalize on it. Yuzu probably had a slight fix as well, but in any case, the result wouldn't have changed the men's event so no controversy there. To be honest, I'm kind of glad Plush didn't skate because the fix energy was probably spent most on Plush in the men's event and then he retired so all the fixing turned out to be hogwash.

And pairs, well, good thing the Russian pair was so superior. There was probably a fix there, too, but the pairs got their gold on their own.

But, well, the ladies... the fix changed the result that should have been, so now you have an outcry!!

I really want to see what will happen @ Saitama WC 2014. I wonder if the judges there will go along with Sochi crap and give her similar PCS, or bring her back to earth.

I corrected my original post. It should have been "one of those two judges". Yes, it is anonymous but you can see that only one judge gave Sot similar low range of scores, when there were two in Yuna's case. So one of them should have thought Sot was better than Yuna in PCS categories. Disgusting.

They may be fine with her win, but Johnny indicated both yesterday and today that Adelina was overscored, and when Terry asked if they agreed with the scores, Johnny said he was "fine with the podium."

I actually think Adelina deserved to win, but her PCS was inflated for both programs--she should have won by a much smaller margin than she did. The judges did a huge disservice to Adelina and to figure skating as a sport with their stupid overscoring.

I think she earned it. Everyone was deserving and Adelina fought the hardest IMO and that is worthy of praise. I've always liked this girl. I started a thread about her in January and everyone cast her off. I was convinced of her ability on her Russian National Gala skate. Wow. That 2axel (3:30 mark-WATCH IT) is gorgeous!!!

Lakernik should NOT have been the TEch specialist on that 3 person panel, it is an OBVIOUS conflict of interest if he’s from the country that the Olympics is being held in,
with the nationalistic climate, Putin’s pressure about medals, and corruption.

For those doubting “how” he could have been influenced - there are many many subtle and not so subtle ways.

Anyway, it is clear that a question should be asked: Why did Yuna receive the crucial L3 for footwork, out of everyone else? That is the ONLY technical call that is needed to change the results.

And we all knew this when the new “fair” system came into being. It’s perhaps even an easier way to manipulate results than the old 6.0

Only one (!!!) element’s level needs to be dropped at this kind of competition.

It's not his fault Chan messed up more on his program...Yuzuru cannot and should not be compared to Adelina.
