Hi! Guys, maybe somebode can make some reviews from dance competitions? How skate Karam-O"Keff and Sheft-Hill? And some words about Virtie-Moir FD?

Hey,

you might want to ask the same question to http://forums.isu.org. Some of the regular members of the board are living in Toronto and they were planning on going. They will give you updates on the results. One lady has the voice of authority on ice dancing and Canadian dance teams.

Link to Thornhill results: http://www.skatecanada-centralontario.com/Irma/2007 Summer Skate/index.htm

Reports are trickling in at FSU (Thornhill thread in Kiss and Cry forum) and some dance reports and photos should be posted eventually at ice-dance.com.

Sylvia,
Is it possible to post some reviews here? How was C&O?

Any review on the Quebec summer competition? I'm interesed in knowing how Joannie, D&D did...

The new formed Canadian pair (sorry, their names just escaped me) withdrew from Quebec competition, anybody knows why?

Summary of reports from various sources:

Joannie debuted her new SP to Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No.1. She did a 3flip-3toe combo with a slight two-foot landing on the 3toe, and had a step-out/hand down on a 3lutz. Very good score of 59.75.

D&D skated the pairs long program only. They have kept their Damian Rice program from last season ( ), but have improved the lifts. Also a good score for them of 113.17.

Megan Duhamel & Craig Buntin withdrew prior to the competition. Megan is suffering from a foot injury.

good choice for her. So glad that she is working on the triple triples again.

A few questions:

What is YRSA?

Is Joey Russell generally better than Chris Mabee?

Tugba is representing Turkey. This was an international event?

Otherwise

Canada is looking good. Dube and Davison skating well and from that Youtube on their sbs camels, a bit scary.

I am not getting sound on youtube showings these days. Is it my computer?

Joe

My answers are in bold.

York Region Skating Academy

I think they allow skaters that train in Canada to compete.

I had no sound for a few days. I unplugged my speakers in a few times and it came back

But to read their competition thread/forums, you need to pay for the privledge.

I refuse to pay for something that you can find either by going to the Skate Canada web site or other information sources and I'm not alone there. Also you get to miss all that "tiffed" "porny" whatever crap gets posted ad nauseam over there.

Another reason why this place is so great. :)

The reasons why members need to pay to read the competition forums is because there are SO MANY posters there and it gets so active during major competitions that the board has crashed at times. Many posters here are also very active there at FSU. There IS a reason why the board gets that much traffic and why many ARE WILLING to pay, including me. You ddin't have to insult it before you said Golden Skate is great.

Maybe this would be a good place to put a reminder: If you are registered at FSU and also post here, please don't copy reports from one board to another. This is a matter of board etiquette (and sometimes of copyright).

However, if you are the poster, you can post the same information on both boards. :)

That wasn't an insult. That's a fact. There are quite a few people out there who can't stand FSU due to all of that stuff. I go to find skating info. Not to have to wade through that crap.

And that is the final word I have about that place.

So as another person who didn't pay the extra $$$ to access FSU's competition forums, did anyone on this board attend Thornhill Summer Skate?

BTW, I'm a member of FSU and have nothing against that board or the way things are run there. I chose not to pay the extra money because I just don't have the time to wade through all the threads on that segment of the board, and since I seem to be one of the few skating fans left who usually prefers to remain unspoiled until after seeing the competition, and with few exceptions, by the time I finally get around to watching those events, their threads are no longer restricted, anyway.

If other people feel it's worth their $$$ to access those extra forums, that's fine with me. Those people who don't feel it's worth it can always choose to post here or at one of the other skating forums/lists where they can get that information for free.

And now back to the originally scheduled topic of this thread...I hope!

Tigger, I agree with you.
