Unforturanlty even though we had a very productive week here in Novogorsk and were able to get some great feedback from the Judges/Specialists ...we are not going to be able to take part in the upcoming test skates! But we are staying positive and hope to slowly but surely get ready for our next events

I really like them and was looking forward to seeing the fruits of their labour with Dean. But they need to address their recurring injuries or this could really hurt them in the minds of specialists and international judges. Tessa and Scott used to suck it up as much as possible to prevent judges from lowballing them. They were reportedly injured last year around this time as well but they still performed, so is it that they're just being cautious or is it worse than last season? Can you feel my disappointment?

I notice that Tiffani's surname is now being spelled "Zagorski" rather than "Zahorski".

It's a double transliteration. Her name was transliterated from Latin characters into Cyrillic characters for the Russian Fed's paperwork. And because there is no equivalent of "h" in Cyrillic, "г" was the nearest they had. And that is normally transliterated as "g".

But, when the forms were being filled in for the ISU, the person at the Fed just transliterated the Cyrillic characters back into Latin characters, rather than going back to the original Polish spelling.

It's the same with Daniel Gleichenhaus. When his name was transliterated from Latin characters into Cyrillic characters, and then transliterated back into Latin characters, it became Daniil Gleikhengauz. Again, it wasn't taken back to the original German spelling for the paperwork.

For Fan Fest titles, we generally take the following approaches when it comes to double transliterations:

• If the name was originally in Latin characters, and was then transliterated into a different alphabet before being transliterated back into Latin characters, we use the original spelling (e.g. Tiffany Zahorski rather than Tiffani Zagorski; Natalja Zabijako rather than Natalia Zabiiako; António Souza-Cordeiro rather than Antonio Souza-Kordeiru).
  
  
• If the name was originally in an alphabet other than Latin, and then transliterated into a second different alphabet before being transliterated into Latin characters, we use whichever spelling is most commonly used (e.g. Yuko Kavaguti rather than Yuko Kawaguchi).

Taking these approaches is probably the most respectful option towards the skaters and their families. Because it is not their fault that their name is being mangled by bureaucracy.
