Re: Timothy Goebel - Year in Review

He was off to a bad start (Campbells) and injuries kept him from GPs, the Nats were less than his potential, but he came through with flying colors at the Worlds.

Even some of his non fans thought he should have been first.

If he keeps that 2003 Worlds spirit, he'll do just fine.

Re: Timothy Goebel - Year in Review

Good for him. He certainly didn't let all the troubles he had this year get him down and his free skate at Worlds was one of my favorite moments from the entire event in Washington, DC. :D I wish him all the best for this next season, no injuries this year! And especially since I will be at Nats this year and see him compete live and in person! Go Timmy!!! :D

Just an aside to this too.....I just LOVE the Roots sweatshirt he has on in that last picture! LOL :D

Re: Timothy Goebel - Year in Review

Timmy totally kicked ice at Worlds. When he looks back on this season, that's what he will remember. Good for him.

Thanks for the article! I'm so glad Tim had an awesome season! :)

Quote:
I've done the three quads and two triple Axels in my long for three seasons now," Goebel said. "I just want to do something different because it gets stale to do the same elements in every program."[/quote]

I love this attitude of Tim's. Too many skaters just reach a plateau and stay there with the same trick list forever. Artistic excitement is wonderful, but I'm glad Tim is there to provide some extra technical excitement.

Tim's performance at World's was just great! It was one of the highlights for me. I hope he can continue to connect with the crowd the way he did there.
Good luck Tim!

Re: Timothy Goebel - Year in Review

I was at Worlds and that was the best I've seen from Timmy. I had my doubts about just how much he could improve artistically, but I have changed my mind. I can see a huge difference in his skating ... and a really good state of mind.
I hope he can keep this up, because with his jumping ability ... he could really make a run for the top. IMO

Re: Timothy Goebel - Year in Review

I have solid hopes and expectations that Timothy is going to upt the ante substantially with his presentation. Improved artistic skills, combined with his superior jumps and spins should "hold him in good stead" for World and Olympic medals, as Dick Button would say.

Go, Timothy! :D
