So is the answer Eldredge in 1996 then? I thought that Stojko won the LP in Edmonton but he was in 4th or 5th after the SP because of a fall on the 3A?
Ant

I'm pretty sure that Eldredge won the lp.

I was thinking of Jill Trenary in 1990.

Weren't eh oly competitions she did that year - Nationals and Worlds? I thought that was the first seasno she sat out the GP to think about her future and that prompted all of $peedy's hissy fit rules? I remember her not knowing who Malinina was going into worlds despite Malinina's dominance in the GP that year.

While Kwan did skip the GP that season, I don't think it prompted any of $peedy's hissy fit rules. After all, she was doing pro-ams during the season when the pro-ams were sanctioned by the ISU, so they were making money off of her, no matter what. IIRC, $peedy didn't start throwing real hissy fits until Plush dropped out of a GP event to do a show about 4 or 5 years after MK skipped the GP for a season.

Or they'll realize we're really the same poster under two names. :chorus:

True, very true... we need to keep up our cover... c'mon Michelle & Sasha... come back!! SS & I need to keep our street cred & secrets!! :p

And SS - don't forget to pick up our litium on the way home... (ok, that was wrong... no offense to those who are on litium or those who know someone on it or whatever PC thing I'm supposed to say to limit the amount of PMs I get for tasteless humor...)

She planned to do only Skate America, but a bunch of European federations full of Europeans who thought they were above liking Kwan's skating, but not above the money they could make off of her went whining to Speedy about it because they wouldn't get a piece of the pie if she only competed in the USA. He made up some non-rule on the spot (read: had not been approved by the ISU Congress) saying that the top 6 skaters at the previous Worlds were required to compete in at least two GP events or none at all, meaning that Kwan and Todd Eldredge, who was skipping the GP but was scheduled to perform an exhibition, were kicked out of SA because they were both seeded. I think they also threatened to sanction the USFSA and ban Kwan from Worlds if they let Kwan compete at just SA, so the USFSA backed down.

I thought she stepped out of the triple lutz and therefore had a turn between the lutz and toe-loop?

That was 1997 Worlds. In 1999 she fell on the double axel.

I thought there had been a knee jerk reaction from $peedy about that one year.

Of course i was thinking of 1997!
