Trophee Eric Bompard - Men's Short Program - LIVE!!!!!

Methinks Brian is carrying the "Curse of the French GP". and how about those N.American guys which were kind of written off a year ago. If I remember correctly, I think it was Takahashi who impressed me in Dortmund Worlds.

]Did Johnny try the quad?

Hi Joesitz..

I've been following along on FSU, and it doesn't sound like it. I'm suspecting if/when he tries it the first time, it would be in the FS rather than the SP? Just guessing here, but I think a "miss" would be less painful score wise in the FS. Let me know if I'm missing something - still getting used to the new scoring system.

Edited to add - oops - my comments here are related to Johnny doing or not doing a quad in the SP (my understanding is that he did not). Sorry this was a ramble...

Thanks DG - Both Johnny and Eman have long legs which gives their skating a certain appeal with regard to stroking. I would imagine that Johnny just gave one of his "I don't care" performances which in his case, is a winner. Maybe he will be uptight in the FS. Hope not.

Too bad about Tim. He's had bad luck for too long. Brian is having a bad season. Let's see his LP and Marshalls.

I'd love to see Johnny and Eman in GPF. I wouldn't write off Takahashi, he can be dynamite.

I read that Brian J. fell on his 2nd 3-axel and stumbled on his 4-3 combo.

Sounds like Johnny had quite a skate! Can't wait to see it! (Oh, wait, I won't get to see it since it's the short program and ABC/ESPN isn't showing ANY OF IT. GRRRR. Guess I will have to wait until Portland.) I'm still watching his NHK performace over and over.

On a fun note, I just checked that Johnny, Daisuke and Brian have the same choreographer: Tatiana Tarasova. I imagine they must have skate together over the summer, I imagine those practice sessions where something to watch as well.

does any know just how much TT has input into these guys? I know Brian is watched very carefully with Yags. Johnny is up in Conn for about six weeks working on tweaking his routine, and Daisuke, I just don't know if he is training in the US and if so where? or in Japan?

The only think I can add Joe...

...is that the French article we talked about on that other thread in this section mentioned specifically that Yags was NOT a part of the tearing up and re-construction of Brian's SP and FS. (not sure how significant the changes actually are, of course)

Beats me, DG - From what I've seen this season of Brian (Campbells (TV) and LP SA Iive) it seems, he's off centre. Something like Tim was last season. I think something is going on with him personally.

Me too! I hope I don't wear out the Tivo before the season is over.

LOL I'm watching it as well! My mum is a crazy-fan for Johnny, and she doesn't even follow FS as I do, she just watches it when I do, and the first time she saw him, she was like "Oh, he's so good!! I'll give him straight 6.0 (when it was in use, that is)". I'm recording all these competitions. I love the music he chose as well. I was cleaning up here the other day, and I found the Raul DiBlasio CD with the theme for Otoñal (it's a 7 minute track,so they had a lot to pick out). Very good music indeed.

On other note, I dunno if Daisuke is living in CT, he has listed 2 coaches (TT and Utako Nagamitsu), and if he is still in school maybe he just trained with TT over the summer. Perhaps once school is over, he would go to CT.

Johnny has a ten-point lead over Eman. With the strong component scores that Johnny is sure to get in the long, it will be hard to overtake him even if he makes mistakes tomorrow.

Go Daisuke! I hope he stays on the podium.

Good for Johnny, I am in shock. I am surprised and glad that the program component marks make an impact. I guess this puts all the fears that artistry no longer counts to rest.
