IMO it is a bad idea to start with pairing Elena with David, I could only think of one worse scenario, pairing Jamie with Anton.

Well, you can't say ABC television isn't trying. Michael Weiss and Marie-France were guests on The View yesterday, and the panel played up their "victory" like they just won the Olympics.

....I did watch Friday night's show - and that was enough for me.

Is it any wonder Pro skating has died out in N. America?

It is interesting who did and who didn't like this show. Over on FSU they have a 22-page, 436-post thread going on about it. Golden Skate, not so much.
