I just noticed Heather has updated her TV schedule page.

I can't really tell, but looks like about the same amount as last season? Lots of lame sounding exhibitions... and interestingly, no coverage whatsoever on ABC.

I think it likely that some ABC coverage of SA and Nats will be added later -- it is the last season, though, of the ABC/USFS contract, which I doubt will be renewed. I notice that no cheesefests are listed -- have Campbells and/or Marshall's pulled their sponsorship?

The Disson shows with live singing on NBC are skatingwise a bit "difficult", because the singer is being shown on the TV screen and during that time one misses the skating. The good thing is though that there always are skating performances included that are not performed to live music. I would expect us to be able to enjoy of e.g. Ilia Kulik´s "Too Darn Hot" from the musical "Kiss Me Kate" in either Tribute On Ice in Bridgeport, CT

or Yamaguchi show in Columbia, SC

That magical performance has been choreographed by Patricia Wilcox. Alone that number makes those shows worth watching, and of course in them will be other great performances also.

I have gotten the impression that the skaters really love to perform to live music, it gives some special feeling to them and from that reason those who are fortunate enough to be able to be in the live show, will have a great experience.

Scary if ABC does not renew the contract. Would the other networks want it?

Probably ESPN and ESPN2 since they already have the contract on all the other skating and at a much lower price. This could spell the end for the Cheesefests.

They are not exactly household words on ESPN which is owned by ABC. My scary feeling was that ABC will dump more of figure skating to make room for more poker. It's all about ratings and the higher the ratings the higher costs for the sponsors and the richer the network gets.

NBC *might* but they seem to be the only other network interested...

I think we'll just have to really encourage ESPN this year to let them know there is a huge interest out there for this sport!

How do we do that?

NBC, oh my they can't even give a good coverage of a Nascar race what would we be in for if they covered skating.
Does this mean the end to Dick, Peggy if all the coverage goes to ESPN networks?
