I think Davide Lewton Brain did , too.
😭

Interesting that they adjusted ladies downward, everybody else upward.
It's probably due to how many entries there were at Worlds.

Men - 39 (24 advance)
Women - 33 (24 advance)
Pairs - 23 (20 advance)
Ice Dance - 36 (20 advance)

I can see why the Men and Ice Dance went up 5 and 4 points respectively if they want to lower the amount of entries in the short program.

Pairs has elements that change in the short each season, so that may play a part too.

I don't know the optimal number of skaters at Worlds, but it looks like they're shooting for six groups, at least in Singles and Dance. A few more women, a few less men and dance teams. 36 doesn't sound that much different than 39... but those extra three men make for a long, long short program event.

I'm conflicted about the approach. I want to see as many federations represented as possible, because I root for the little guy and want them to have their moment in the sun. On the other hand, it IS the world championship, and some standards of excellence would seem necessary.

I don't like lowered women's min, mainly because it signals continuing non-participation of a specific group of women with strong TES who I want to take part. If participation was allowed, I don't mind it.
