Congratulations to all the medalists, and indeed, to all of the competitors! I enjoyed every second of this competition from SD to FD. Yes, there were a couple moments that were tough - such as P/C costume mishap and C/B elegant fall among others and H/D not quite laying it down as they can in the FD. But, I enjoyed the fierce commitment they all showed at every turn, no pun intended.
That said, i was talking with a friend and fellow skating fanatic and we were both like: whatever happens, we want V/M and P/C to skate clean and then whatever happens happens. And then we were like: no one can really beat that Moonlight Sonata so.....let's just savor that moment and whatever V/M do an enjoy the battle for third.
Well, here's what happened: separatley watching, we both felt that V/M gave this program the skate of the season and in many ways of there life. We never imagined they could or would do what they did and they did. Saying this to say that I get some people are like: how did that score improve so much? I think me and my friend who aren't judges felt like, well it did because they kept tweaking this and also save the very very best for this FD.
Meanwhile, Moonlight Sonata is just one of those FD that I will never forget. And when I and my friend watched GP finals we were like: well, that's is, no one can ever beat that. Although they scored higher at O's, we felt that the GP final performance was better - something about us grabbed us more. That said, the O performance was excellent and again, one I will always remember.
Wow. Now i'm rambling. Okay - real point: I as the couch watching fan feel the results of placement were fair. I as the arm chair watcher was surprised that V/M didn't also have a point or so higher in the FD compared to P/C. I also thought the latter's program would be the uncontested winnner of any FD competition, but in that moment on that night, I thought V/M brought a crispness, a fight, an emotion, a precision, a kind of technical and emotional perfection that I though P/C didn't quite achieve. Yet, I loved the latter too.
I am so happy for ShibSibs and thought they did the very best I have seen them do. Heart arches a bit for H/D and in a different way C/B....and yet, I feel so happy to have watched all of this and plan to watch a replay soon!

. Flower girls' reaction during last choreo lift is priceless, indeed, so was collective roar, not even a gasp, after twizzles, 'crotch' lift, and 'Prince' lift. It all just hit the target.
In spite of the mishaps, ID was a fine competition all around.
