Wakaba Higuchi

So you got it from the magazine or somewhere official info? For me, it seems that the tweet actually says that she will include a 3A.

No, I read the tweet. I said it doesn't specify where the 3A will be included (SP or LP). There will be a 3A but it doesn't say which program will have it. The part about the LP is about what she said last season, when she specified she was going to put a 3A in the LP (in the end she didn't).

I got it. That's what I put a (?) after the word (LP). Probably her team is planing to include it in her LP. But thanks anyway.

According to the tweet, Wakaba will include a 3A in her (LP?) layout this season. (it seems s/he got the info from a FS magazine.) So exciting!

I read the magazine. Wakaba says she wants to include the triple axel (doesn't specify which program), but she's not consistent with it yet. She thinks she still lacks the "instantaneous force" but it's just a matter of practicing more. She's been studying other people's triple axels and found her own unique way of executing it. Actually, she says that axel jumps are not her forte :eekn:

And thank goodness, she says she's taking the "safe route" and will only do the 3Lz-3T instead of the 3Lz-3Lo this season unless she becomes 100% consistent with the 3Lz-3Lo.

Also at PIW, she told a fan that she won't be using the reverse spins in competitions. It's just for ex.

Thanks mikaboo for the detailed information  so it sounds like it's not a sure thing yet that she will include a 3A. Maybe she will but not 100%?...or it's just she suggested she would practice hard for putting a 3A in her layout, after all.
I so hope she would challenge it this season though..By the way I am curious about that "her own unique way of executing it"

Wow! We've never seen it, so I don't know if it's close/there/how consistent it is, but I'm looking forward to seeing it!

(Still, I hope it doesn't do to her consistency what Alaine Chartrand's did. As long as it doesn't kill the program, good for her for trying it!)

Aww I was hoping to see her spins in two direction in competition. But nevermind, we always have Satoko for that :)

I feel its better to go for the 3Lz3T too cause the Lo isn't consistent though its very lovely when she executes it well. Hmmm I can't wait to see that triple Axel, I was hoping for it this pasy season but hopefully she can add it in successfully this season. This is very exciting indeed.

Would she possibly be going to Asian Open this year? Or maybe JO, as the other ladies skater?

Wakaba has participated in Asian Open quite a few times, and she didn't go last season because of her back pain. I wouldn't be surprised if she went again this season! Japan Open, is what I'm curious about.

Imagine if the line up for TJ in JO happens to be Shoma, Satoko, Wakava and Sota  that would be so exciting and a bit nerve wreaking. All the young ones ahaha. Kinda unlikely but I can dream.

Yes, me too. She says that it doesn’t look like anyone else’s triple axel.

The Asian Open Trophy entries have been announced but she wasn't on it. She'll probably get a CS though.

Aww man I was so hoping to see her programs soon. Is she in any other ice shows this summer? Or is that it? Maybe she'll do Finlandia instead. Rika did that last year.

The remaining summer ice shows are 'The Ice' (Mao's ice show) and 'Friends on Ice' (Arakawa's ice show). But Wakaba isn't in any of the two (less likely for 'The Ice', as the tour is not in Kanto area). Besides ice shows, I'm guessing she can also be doing some domestic summer competitions. Last year she participated in 'Tokyo Junior Figure Skating Summer Competition' during late Aug. I just checked and the same competition will be held from 26 to 28 Aug. It seems that this year the Tokyo summer competition will include senior levels (but only short program?). But the entries haven't been released yet.

I agree that she'll probably be sent to one of the CS/B competitions to get ready for senior competitions. Or else after the summer competitions and before GP, she'll probably also enter Tokyo Regional (to be held on Sept 22-25, but pending on the CS competition she'll enter).

I didn't expect her at all, I thought it would be Rika or Kanako. But Satoko and Wakaba together are going to make sure Team Japan wins again. :hap10:

:) I kind of expected as Wakaba is going to debut as a senior just like last season's Uno.

Except Uno had already competed as a senior at 4CC 2015, Wakaba hasn't competed in any senior competition at all.

Yes, but his full season as a senior started last season. Japan Open is a good place to promote their own skaters especially skaters with a JW medal. She deserves every attention since she is not only the two time JW bronze medalist but also a silver medalist at Nationals beating Mao, Rika and Kanako. That is why I expected to see her at the event. I think the federation would assign her to a Challenger before the event just like Uno's participation in US Classics.

I really hope the influx from the new generation like Wakaba rocks the stagnant ladies field.
