Wakaba Higuchi

I remember she debuted her new programs at an ice show last year, so maybe she'll do it again :) I'm anticipating her senior programs. I wonder if she'll continue back loading her jumps for the SP

Thanks @ioanna! I've missed PIW! Go wakaba! i'm looking forward to seeing Wakaba powerful and cheerful!:hap10:

I've updated the original post with results from this season. Wakaba achieved a new PB in the free skate this season!

wakaba turns senior! she gets beautiful..

Info. from people who went to PIW Yokohama today. I think I mostly looked at people who went to the 1st show so I don't know if anyone skated to different programs for the 2nd show.
Wakaba - Mambo Fantasy (The tweet says Wakaba said she's going senior next season)

From PIW reports, Wakaba's new SP choreographer is Shae-Lynn Bourne and FS is Massimo Scali
She hasn't revealed the music yet (still a secret).

This makes me excited! I'm glad she's trying out new choreographers. Hopefully these senior programs will showcase her jumps AND artistry :)

(ps, I love your avatar ;) )

Me too & thanks! :luv17:

More info on her new programs - source
SP - quiet with a sense of sorrow
FS - like a queen!

I have no doubt Shae-Lynn will do a great job with Wakaba !! I can't wait to hear more about the programs :luv17:

Hmm, interesting. Wonder what they could be...

SP: Valse Triste? It fits the quiet with a sense of sorrow criteria.
FS: no idea.

For those more familiar with Shae-Lynn Bourne and Massimo Scali, what are some other choreography they've done before that could work for Wakaba?

Her program descriptions sound great! the "like a queen" one seems fitting :D

EDIT: After some research, I found out Shae-Lynn choreographed Yuzuru's Seimei, both of Ashley's programs this season, and some of Akiko and Daisuke's programs over the years. This makes me excited for Wakaba (and Rika :) )

About Shae Lynn, just out of my mind:

- SEIMEI and Phantom of the Opera for Yuzuru
- Lilies of the Valley (this year sp) for Alaine Chartrand
- West Side Story for Akiko Suzuki
- Pagliacci and Historia de un Amore for Dai Takahashi
- Both sp and fp for Ashley this year
- Last year FD for Weaver and Poje and I think she collaborated for theri FD this year too.

About Massimo, I know he worked for Akiko too (Hymne à l'amour)

I'm not that familiar, but Massimo Scali did both of Keiji Tanaka's programs in 2015-2016 season and he's worked with some junior ladies like Mai Mihara (Rondo Capriccioso) and Kaori Sakamoto (The Color Purple) as well. I heard he's also working with Mura on his new SP.

is this the program description in that tweet.

Can NOT wait:yahoo:

Yes, those are Wakaba's descriptions of her new programs

Has Wakaba's page at her sponsor's website been posted here before?

My rough translation of the Q&A
Q1. What made you start figure skating?
My mother had already decided before I was born that if I was a girl, she was going to have me do figure skating. I started going to skating classes when I entered kindergarten.
Q2. Are there any skaters you like, or anyone who you aim to be like?
I've always like Yuna Kim and I've been aiming to be like Elizaveta Tuktamysheva recently.
Q3. How would you describe your skating in one word (sentence)?
I'd like to be able to say, "skating with freedom and speed!" with confidence.
Q4. Do you ever get nervous before competitions?
There are times when I get really nervous and other times I don't get very nervous but I take a breath before the opening pose to relax my mind.
Q5. What is figure skating to you?
Something that I cannot live without.
Q6. What do you do on your days off?
I hang out with friends or I relax at home.
Q7. What subjects do you like at school?
PE and English.
Q8. What is your favorite food?
I don't have any particular dislikes so I like everything equally. Actually, I like chocolates and ice cream but I gain weight easily so I try not to think about them.

The latest message video:
http://www.noevir.co.jp/figureskate/mv-message_1604.htm
She says that she couldn't do as well as she wanted to in the first half of the season because she injured herself but because she took care of the injury, she's happy she was able to do better in the second half of the season.
The most memorable competition of the season for her was at Nationals. It's been her dream to be in the same competition with Mao and also, she skated well there so she's glad about that.
For next season, she wants to include the 3A, 3Lz-3Lo in her programs.

Also, Wakaba's been taking classes at Tetsuya Kumakawa's ballet school. This post is from February 14th this year but I believe she's been there longer.
