Did anyone ever think that if Johnny actually landed a quad in competition with his lyrical style, that a majority of judges would consider it enough to give him gold?

If everything else was perfect he would certainly be very close. Depends on how the rest of the men skated. If brian lands a quad and is otherwise perfect, johny will probably get it. If stephane lands a quad and is otherwise perfect, stehpane will probably win. and i havn't even thought about what happened in the short!

Did anyone ever think that if Johnny actually landed a quad in competition with his lyrical style, that a majority of judges would consider it enough to give him gold? Would there now be enough points if the routine is flawless along with many other top men he will meet in Worlds?

IMO in a properly judged event, if he had both a clean SP and LP, and if at least his LP had a quad then of the top 5 or 6 guys only Lambiel or maybe Takahashi could beat him, but that's not how figure skating works.

I wish he had tried it all season then. Putting it in at Nationals is risky. He's such a mental case sometimes that I'm afraid if he misses it then he'll fall apart like he usually does. Maybe his new coah has also been working with him on this.
