Just read on Sui's Weibo that she was feeling very painful at the hospital. Apparently she just got the surgery. Hope it was successful and she get well soon.

The surgery sounded painful! I'm hoping for a fast recovery.

Full recovery is expected in 4 months.

Wenjing Sui had a 3-hour surgery on lateral collateral ligament of right ankle, and tendon of left foot. It will take 4 months to recover.

I'm assuming they will have to sit the GP series out this season. Depending on how recovery goes, they might be able to make it to 4CC and Worlds (they have their new programs choreographed and learned already). The one thing I hope is that the Chinese Fed (ugh) doesn't push them to go back into competition as soon as possible. If their new pair swap doesn't work out, I'm sure the Chinese Fed would want Sui/Han to hurry back to competition and save the day (and their reputation). But since this surgery is so serious, I don't want them anywhere near a competition until her feet are completely healed.

Worst case scenario - they skip the whole season or don't come back 100% - I am glad she had the surgery now and now what could be happening a year from now. And besides, they are still pretty young and hopefully will have many, many years of successful skating!

Yeah, they're not making the gp. I think (hope?) they won't be rushing back- rushing back from the injury in 2013 lost china the 3rd Olympic spot. I don't think Zhao would let sui hurry back on competitive ice though.

Thanks for the info ficelle and turquoiseblue Oh, Empress Sui :sad21: At least she should rest well! :yes: I'm sure Han will be training hard anyway so he won't get out of shape when Sui will be finally able to skate. I guess it would be reasonable to skip GP, but 4 months means she should be okay in September and you never know with Chinese Fed. Since 4CC is in February I don't see why would they not compete (unless either of them will have health issues by then), it will be 5 months after Sui supposed recovery.

I don't think the 4 months estimated even includes PT. Besides, they can't start training for a gp just a month or so before, just after recovering from surgery. She's not going to be able to do elements as soon as she's permitted to be back on ice, crazy fed or not. Four continents is realistic though. I hope they won't compete any earlier than that, to be on the safe side.

I'm SO sad to even think about them not competing , but her health is the most important thing.

Well, I'd rather them sit out one season and compete for many more after recovery than compete this season, and never be able to compete ever again. It's a pain because they sat out for a bit of this season as well, but it's absolutely the best decision.

I had to look up what PT stands for... Well, you may be right, but I just really hope she recovers in 4 months enough to skate, but if not, she should take all the time she needs I also would rather they sit out this season and smash everyone in Olympic one. Actually if Chinese Fed was smarter they would do surgery at the beginning of this year (or even at the end of las year) and skip 4CC and Worlds, so she could recover fully on time for new season. They would get GP assignments anyway, they are too good to be left out!
