What are you listening to right now?

I have to admit, I am surprised that you find it amazing that I remember Cleopatra. They were really big here for a couple of years, before they faded away. (They were already starting to fade away when they appeared on that ABBA tribute).

For those that don't know what we're on about, here are their 3 biggest songs:

Well, if I am totally honest, I do know what two of the contestants were like, because they were from Northern Ireland and were never off the local news!

Oh, and the contestant who lives 10 miles from me, Andrea Begley, just happened to win the series!!! ;) :biggrin:

(And can I just add that I am not a fan of the type of music her very famous auntie, Philomena Begley, does! So, I was relieved that Andrea is taking a different musical route).

Stella Getz was swedish but never got the fame of Whigfield (Who was adane, right?) for example.

I think it has to do with the fact you're from Northern Ireland. Ask a German person who Cleopatra are and they are going to shake their head at you. I bought their album back then, too. Also S Club 7 and Shampoo. If I look at the video for Trouble now, it seems very ridiculous, but I loved that stuff back then.

It's definitely something not to be missed. I don't know how popular they are in America or if they toured there. Thing is my image of the Corrs was always a very subdued and quiet one. But they are amazing live! So lively and talented and you just want to grab the person next to you and dance. They love what they do, and you can definitely see it when you watch them live. Got tears in my eyes during their moving rendition of "Ellis Island" By the way, I think some of their instrumentals should be used in figure skating programs.

Funny, when I listened to it again there now I was thinking "I wonder if you could make a skating routine out it that"

When I was at school, a local church had a youth orchestra, and a couple of girls I was close with (read: fancied) were in it. One time, they put on a concert. It was at the same time as the Brazilian F1 Grand Prix :mad: But I taped the race and went anyway. "Lough Erin Shore" was one of the songs they played. And it really made an impression on me. So, when I then bought The Corrs' Unplugged album, I kept playing that particular track over and over again!

But, I had never thought of it as skating music until today.

Now, I really want to see somebody skating to it!!! :biggrin: :biggrin: :biggrin:

So thanks to everyone who posts in this thread. It's cool to hear from so many posters who live in so many parts of the world and what their listening to :yes:

I've been listening to a song nonstop for going on three days now. It's for a musical project with a couple musicians I know. I've been asked to learn the guitar part and with that means I have to understand the vocals equally well. The meaning and placement of the words and accents and all that. I think it's a mildly depressing song that serves as an introspective into being someone who feels powerless against a society that ignores the obvious warning signs and the need to constantly improve everything. Still...it's a fun song to play and musically interesting.
