What are you listening to right now?

I don't know if this genre ever really took off, or if this band is still together.

The group is called The Birthday Massacre. They mixed dark lyrics with an 80s new wave vibe. It was called "dark wave".

The song is called "Calling", and this is a fan made video, it is not the band that you are watching.

Birthday Massacre - Calling

Sleepyhead- Passion Pit

I had to laugh listening to this in the car today. I was stopped in traffic and a younger guy walking held out his phone to Shazam what song it was. I wonder if he realized that this song is almost 10 years old...

Slow Like Honey-Fiona Apple.

I saw her in Detroit a few years ago. She was so good live!

For some reason, this song has been in my head all morning:

Chuck Berry - "You Never Can Tell"

I wonder why...

All the best for the big day, my little firecracker!

P.S. Yes, I know she's not a teenager anymore. But, it was only a few weeks ago that she turned 20. So, her being in her 20's is all pretty new and taking a bit of time to sink in.

This morning, I was listening to the radio. And unsurprisingly given the date, there were a lot of American songs being played.

Well, one of the songs that was played was a song that I have heard many times through the years. Except, this time it was the original version that was played, rather than the more famous cover by Elvis Presley.

And I have to admit, now that I have heard the original for the first time, I much preferred it. It was simply beautiful.

Mickey Newbury - "An American Trilogy"

Happy 4[SUP]th[/SUP] July to all the American members on here.

Emilie Simon - En cendres

Remo Giazotto - Adagio in G Minor

Woodkid - Land of All

Birthday Massacre - Calling

Been a long time since I last listened to TBM! Very goth. Back in the day this was always in my head.

The Birthday Massacre - Blue

A niche band, but very popular in said niche, if the 4M views doesn't give that away ;)

For a while I have been looking for a pure piano version of Barry Manilow's "Could It Be Magic" that included all of Chopin's Prelude Op. 28, No. 20.

Haven't had any luck yet (well, I did find one, but it wasn't quite what I wanted). They all either have only a short part of the Prelude at the start, or else have synthesised music during the song part.

But there now, I decided I needed a break from looking up videos for a Fan Fest I am currently updating, and decided to try again. And I managed to come across this other song that is based on the piece:

Angra - "Visions Prelude"

Somewhere between T-Rex and Wilco and yet very hipster in an already been there done that kind of way. This song has been in my rotation for a few weeks now and it doesn’t look to be leaving anytime soon.
