What are you listening to right now?

Unfortunately nothing Christmas-y, but I haven't managed to get it out of my head.

Ich gehör nur mir (I belong only to myself) from the musical Elisabeth, sung by Pia Douwes - https://youtu.be/iNzG8jSrT_k
Sung by Kim Sunyoung - https://youtu.be/M8SjvRLlXdA7

This used to be my anthem when I was in high school, I have no idea how I survived dorm life and everything else back then. (Okay, it hasn't been that long ago, but it feels distant.) After graduating I didn't listen to it much, probably because it reminded me of those times, but a skater (can't remember who) used it for her program and reminded me that I still love this song. Beautiful lyrics, and for once the Korean translators did a great job with the Korean version too. Wish Sunyoung would return to play Sisi once more, no Korean actress conveyed such depth of longing and determination.

My Grandfather was from Germany and every Christmas he would sing Stille Nacht to our entire family. It was a very special tradition and I miss it very dearly. It’s been many years since his passing but I listen to this song every Christmas to honor his memory. Something about the German version is very beautiful.

As it turns out the song just turned 200 years old last week. Merry Christmas everyone :ghug:

Would this be the programme you were thinking of?

Christina Schöner - 2014 NRW Trophy SP

Have to be honest, the singer in this version isn't as good as the ones you linked to.

We don't have any German connections in my family (that I know of, anyway!), but my Dad absolutely loves the original German version too.

And so do I.

Frohe Weihnachten

Anyway, my turn.

I have just heard the most beautiful song, and I can't believe I have never come across it before now:

Joni Mitchell - "River"

Merry Christmas everybody!

https://youtu.be/h5TIn-gNmfk Come What May from Moulin Rouge! sung by Lena Park (aka Park Jeonghyun) with Hong Gwangho

They did this for a TV show (theme of the week was duets), bless whoever came up with the idea. I don't listen to the original version anymore unless a Moulin Rouge program pops up during a competition, and I kinda wish I could make the skaters use this cover instead

A broken heart of a transgender person. Very sad, full of pain, but impressive and beautiful. And those lyrics!

"I feel your fists
And I know it's out of love
And I feel the whip
And I know it's out of love
I feel your burning eyes burning holes
Straight through my heart"

Antony and the Johnsons - fistful of love

Compare it with the pain of a tired straight man: Mercy of Maria - Midnight Choir

I cannot resist and must post an additional song. Ruston Kelly is the lucky husband of Kacey Musgraves, and he was a figure skater!

“Yep I trained as a competitive figure skater for like 8 years and lemme tell ya it feels like you’re a f_cking silk eagle.”

Currently watching "Viva Forever - Die Show" (the goodbye show from my favourite music channel), and they just played this song by one of their former presenters:

Stefan Raab - "Ein Bett im Kornfeld"

It is based on this song:

Bellamy Brothers - "Let Your Love Flow"
