What brands of figure skates to buy for narrow low-volume feet (240B)

I have been wearing Edea Chorus 240C for a year and I have just started working on some spins and jumps. I have been feeling like I can never control my skates though because there is too much space in front of and above my toes, as well as in front of my ankles even with the skates tied tight. It's my second pair of skates that don't fit already and so I've gone to the pro shop to get them measured, turns out I'm a 240B but they've put me in the wrong skates (I had Edea Overture 250C before as well and they did not fit at all)

What should I look out for for buying a pair of new skates? Are there any specific brands and models that are good for narrow feet at my level? Should I still stick to Edea or other brands like Risport or Aura?

Would be incredibly grateful for any advice because my progress has been stagnant over the year and I've been experiencing a lot of foot pain. Thanks so much in advance!

I also have thin narrow feet, and I buy either Risport or Riedell when I need to replace boots. Can you give us more information about the shape of your feet? Type of toe slant, height of your arches, prominent ankle or heel bones? Different brands fit differently shaped feet.

The model you should buy, once you know which brands to look at, will depend on your height and weight and age, and your skating level.

When you say "pro shop", do you mean the one at your rink? They are seldom the best place to buy figure skates, usually being more into hockey skates and basic brands used for rentals. If you can tell us where you live (specifically, not just "in Canada" or "in the US" or wherever) then someone here will be able to suggest a good skate shop near you.

I have narrow, low-volume Roman feet with slightly high arches (there is definitely space under my arches when I'm in my current 240C Edea Chorus skates) and a narrow ankle. I don't have any bunions nor other prominent bony projections on my feet. I am 22F 157cm 44kg and I am currently starting single jumps, but it is a struggle mostly because I always can't feel the sides and tips of my boots in the toe box. I study in Sydney and go back to Hong Kong for summer break and yes, I've not yet found any reliable fitters unfortunately.

What brands would you recommend then? And would you know where I would be able to find good boot fitters? Thanks so much!

I study in Sydney and go back to Hong Kong for summer break and yes, I've not yet found any reliable fitters unfortunately.

Being in Canada, I don't know the Australian equipment-fitting scene, but we do have members here in your country, and coaches who have travelled a lot internationally with pupils to competitions.

I have Egyptian feet and high arches with a high instep, so Risport and Riedell fit me best. I've been told by my fitter that Jacksons and Edeas would be too roomy for me in the toe box area. Probably my favored brands would be a snugger fit for you, maybe Graf also. @Ic3Rabbit would know better, as a coach and former international competitor/show skater who has worn almost all brands at some point.

I'm currently wearing Riedell 2010 Fusions and have a pair of Riedell 875 Silver Stars on order to replace them when they break down. Last year I was in Risport RF1 Elites. They all have stiffness ratings of 90, though, which would probably be too stiff at your current level. (I'm a former senior pairs competitor who still works out with another retired pairs skater for fun.) Again, Ic3Rabbit could advise you better as to a recommended model for you. I hope you can find one that fits you better and can boost your skating to a new level!

(Edited: The Riedells I have on order are their 875 Silver Stars. I usually just say "Silver Star" without the number, and looked it up quickly. The Riedell Bronze Stars are their 435 model, which has a lower stiffness rating. They might do for you, as a small adult at the advanced beginner level.)

Hi! I know this was posted ages ago, but I skate in Sydney, recently got edea choruses, and I found that iSkate Canterbury are quite good with fitting. The lady who helped me was very nice and seemed to have quite a vast knowledge of the different brands + their support ratings (she said they never bump people from low-level Jacksons to Pianos, which should be common sense but it was reassuring.)
